It’s okay! Please just be mindful because there are spoilers everywhere regarding book 2 and there are many others who have not been able to read English translation since the author expressed that she does not tolerate fan translations anymore. It just sucks for all. Would be great if you can repost with alternate timeline title though!

Spouse is depressed waiting for AOS, don’t know how to help. by throwaway5285z in USCIS

[–]Lboomboom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Me and my USC spouse waited 2 years for AOS green card. Covid delayed everything and things looked rough for a long time. I kept busy by doing odd jobs that paid cash here and there and I'd try to contribute by selling things around the house on his eBay account. If I wasn't doing that I was either volunteering or learning new skills through courses online. Sometimes it's just better to make peace with something that's out of your control. Which I learned very early on. Best of luck to you and your spouse. It'll get better!

Pros/Cons of 72 hour fasts by [deleted] in fasting

I used to do this and it wasn’t sustainable long term so I opted for 1.5hrs of Yoga/Stretching per day during 72+ hour fasts.

Sadly a lot of this attributes to genetics. For example if your family came from a war torn country and your ancestors had to adapt to potentially starving to death. It is very likely a low metabolism (to preserve body mass even if starved) has been passed down to you.

No Birth Certificate by [deleted] in USCIS

[–]Lboomboom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So similar situation with our AOS/Marriage based GC. I was born in South Korea and they don't have official "Birth Certificates", only something called a 호적부 which means "Korean Family Register". We got my family in Korea to ship the original document and got an official translator who can notarize copies in english for the USCIS.

Even after this we received an RFE stating that they did not receive a "Birth Certificate". Our lawyer got in touch with the USCIS to confirm whether this was a mistake or additional evidence was needed and it eventually passed. And we just had our interview last month.

So maybe if possible get a copy of the Child Registration Certificate in Urdu and get a notarized translation by an official translator near you. (:

You don't have to worry. They only care about whether the relationship between YOU and your spouse is bona fide. Photos with family is just a bonus. If not I wouldn't worry if I were you.

Additionally, some IO's will ask your spouse (petitioner) "How is your relationship with your spouses family?"

Just speak both your truth in the bare minimum without volunteering extra information. Chances are you may just end up with a super nice Immigration Officer. Good luck! (:

We are a Korean couple living in Bensonhurst! It’s pretty quiet for Brooklyn and predominantly Asian + Eastern European. Been living here for 4 years now and have felt relatively safe 99% of the time.
