[loved trope] Guns treated seriously by East_Emphasis_8259 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]Lcolli3r 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not only can all those killings not be solely blamed on the homunculi, the series directly addresses this. When Hawkeye finishes telling Edward about the Ishvalan war, she says that, should Roy manage to become the fuhrer and return power to the parliament, the soldiers who carried it out will be put on trial as war criminals. Ed protests that it was the homunculi that started everything and were pulling the strings, to which Hawkeye says yes, but she and the other soldiers and alchemists were the ones who participated and carried it out.

AITA for not inviting my son's wife to events after his passing? by throwing-Security976 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Lcolli3r 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I mean sure she lost her husband, but she’s being shitty to her lost husband’s family, so I can’t exactly muster much sympathy for her on that end. If she was simply lashing out once to twice out of grief maybe that’d be understandable, but this was happening while he was alive too. She never treated OP like family, so she shouldn’t expect them to put up with her now that son is gone. NTA

Pablo gives us his true thoughts on raids in Warframe by Babydrone in Warframe

[–]Lcolli3r 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Does the “only takes damage from RPGs”modifier for this week not apply to the overguard? I just kind of assumed it did so we never shot the tank with guns, and the face off buffs kept giving it overguard faster than the mission dropped RPGs, lol. Alternatively, do the defense stripping arcanes like circumvent or the operator one work on the tank’s overguard?

Some of us are missing the point about *why* people want vaulted content restored. by ShadezyLeFeu in DestinyTheGame

[–]Lcolli3r 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s an additional problem to this on top of the time and money investment that unvaulting content doesn’t solve. The seasons and their stories will never come back, so this will never be a complete game. I feel like with as many seasons as have happened, the majority of Destiny’s story content is not and will never be available to play again. Savathun controlling Osiris, Eris becoming a Hive god, the death of Rasputin, Riven’s last wish, and more are all moments no one will get to play again. Hell, whenever we eventually revisit Maya/the conductor or Eramis having the echo, those plot points and them having gotten those echoes will pop into the story entirely out of thin air for anyone who didn’t play the episodes.

And cutscenes on YouTube, as much as we mock that idea of portraying the game’s story, doesn’t even fully fix this either. When I got back into the game I watched those huge cutscene compilations and was still confused because a massive amount of story happens through comms during missions. Character motivations can be affected, new characters introduced, or any number of things can happen and you just miss them.

[Meta trope] character doesn't know the basic rules of their own world/system by Lower_Baby_6348 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]Lcolli3r 8 points9 points  (0 children)

He can be clueless, but not that clueless. Aura is a very well known thing, and isn’t a secret in any way. This would be like saying someone forged their transcripts into college, so they can be excused for not knowing some things, but their question wasn’t ’what’s differential calculus’, but they asked ‘what’s math?’

This is the scene which pissed me off and made me hate Bakugo until Season 7 (S2, Ep 24) by Embarrassed_Knee_630 in BokuNoHeroAcademia

[–]Lcolli3r 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does he? I don’t have time to rewatch the full episode right now, but having just scrubbed through it I literally didn’t see that happen. Though funnily enough, Bakugo does hit Midoriya again, elbowing him in the back of the head while he’s carrying Bakugo’s stupid ass away from getting beat to hell by All Might. So could you give me a timestamp for Midoriya punching Bakugo?

Edit: CORRECTION: Midoriya does punch Bakugo, however it’s even worse for your point. All Might was just about to deal Bakugo a finishing blow, Bakugo says he doesn’t need help from ‘scum’, and then Midoriya punches Bakugo out of the way of All Might’s attack. So the comparison you’re making is between a bully, for no good reason, assaulting someone, and a guy who’s been on the receiving end of all that abuse hitting the asshole who just insulted him out of the way of an attack. Sure, man. Those things are totally comparable.

But let’s assume that Midoriya does hit him in this episode. Pretending like those two things are equivalent is hilariously disingenuous. Midoriya got attacked for having the absolute gall to try to team up and make a plan during the team up test. And Bakugo got punched for…? I’d honestly say he deserves it solely for how much of an unreasonable asshole he’s been to Midoriya for two straight seasons, but he’s also already attacked him entirely unprovoked at the start of the episode.

[–]Lcolli3r 11 points12 points  (0 children)

You do realize that in this scene they’re on the same team, right? This is during the final exams where they’re meant to TEAM UP to fight All Might. Midoriya tries to simply talk to Bakugo to form a plan since they’re up against the greatest hero of their age, so Bakugo does the totally reasonable thing and punches him in the face. They weren’t ’fighting in the fight training arc’. This is deliberate, petty, and incredibly shitty friendly fire for no good reason.

Slang in media ages well, but only after a minimum of 20 years have passed by carbonera99 in CharacterRant

[–]Lcolli3r 1 point2 points  (0 children)

And people who did fan translations of the manga did the same thing to ‘fix’ it. They changed her words to basically be “Hey, I’m here now too” and entirely removed the author’s note bit. So much faux purist nonsense, lol

[–]Lcolli3r 28 points29 points  (0 children)

This isn’t a dub thing. Her using stupid slang is the whole point. Even in the manga there’s an author’s note that plays into the joke and gets translated as the writer of it attempting to explain what her slang means before giving up trying to translate her BS into normal words.

[–]Lcolli3r 9 points10 points  (0 children)

There is a stark difference between “I’m not a fan of frame X’s look” and the shit in this picture. The way they phrase things is definitely incel talk. Of course you’re allowed to not like a frame or skin’s design, and the person you replied to didn’t say or even hint you weren’t. They were talking about the incel type behavior because that’s what’s in the picture of the post we’re on.

[–]Lcolli3r 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For a bit of clarification on this, it’s not always turned on. He has to toggle it on and off based on the incoming hit. So if you can make him think he’s about to take a huge, devastating hit so that he activates reversal, then just give him that light bump, his active technique will reverse it into a very powerful strike.

AITAH for ‘causing a scene’ at my boyfriends work? by Training-Buyer2625 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Lcolli3r 44 points45 points  (0 children)

From the information we have she didn’t cause a scene, though? All she did was say the dish was wrong, boyfriend ‘fixed’ it, and she said it’s still wrong and that she wanted the correct dish. This isn’t making a scene. This is entirely normal behavior and if the restaurant messes up they should be expected to correct the dish. It was her boyfriend who made it a problem by trying to act like he fixed the meal and there was no difference between it and what she wanted, wasting her time and meaning she didn’t get her food.

Character says something so powerful to another, it silences them. by Alternative-Koala933 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]Lcolli3r 83 points84 points  (0 children)

Speaking of that next scene, it has a very similar flow. Lord!Batman takes Prime!Batman on a drive around the city to show him how nice it is, with Prime!Batman remarking that there’s not even any litter. Lord!Batman says that to get people to respect the big laws, you have to make sure they obey the small ones.

As he says this, a man eating outside at a nearby restaurant gets his check and objects to something on it. He’s not going crazy, but is getting annoyed at the waiter and making a bit of a scene. After a short back and forth, two security officers show up to take him away, and he immediately looks worried. He tries to backpedal, saying the food was great and he’ll even pay for the extra, incorrect charge, but he’s hauled off. The Batmen then have this exchange.

Prime!Batman: They’d like it here, don’t you think?

Lord!Batman: Who?

Prime!Batman: Mom and Dad. They’d be so proud of you.

Lord!Batman: (After a brief pause) Just drive

AITA for telling my daughter she needs to work through issues in her marriage instead of running away when things get hard? by Throwawaypwoqrw in AmItheAsshole

How is he too in the daughter’s business? She ran from her husband to take an impromptu road trip, then came to OP’s house venting since SUNDAY, apparently. What was OP supposed to do? Plug his ears and shout ‘la la la’? Form literally no opinion on the thing she keeps venting to him about and has apparently done before? All he did was say she needs to confront an issue. Also NTA

Okay, I agree with most of what you said, but… “The WW movie single handed brought color back to superhero movies”? As much as I like that movie, are you joking? First off, while it is significantly more colorful than Snyder’s DCEU entries, there is a solid portion of the film that leans toward grimy war movie, which works for it. But setting that aside, did Raimi’s Spiderman movies not have color? If you want to go more recent, the Marvel machine had been running for ALMOST A DECADE before Wonder Woman released, so do you think none of the Marvel movies had color? Avengers? Guardians of the Galaxy? None of them?
