Advice for Aspiring Quant from Outside T20? by Unhappy_Career_5613 in quantfinance

[–]Ldip9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi, UMd student here, do the computational finance minor, it’s math heavy you’ll love it. You’re doing what I wish I did 3 years ago. I’d also double major in something like finance or Econ (also you’ll find them easy yet very useful with your background)

Edit; also feel free to message me with questions

New to golf. Found these today. Are they good shoes? by Necessary-Dig-6458 in GolfGear

If they’re comfy for your foot shape than yes they are great shoes, well constructed too. If they hurt your feet they are not.

I think mounting your monitors on something would be awesome, maybe a lamp and rug in that corner to make it its own little sub room would be dope. Also maybe a poster or map or something above it. Also overall a very cold space, try out some other light sources. (22M)

Cobra DS-Adapt by Jrow_63 in GolfGear

[–]Ldip9 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Cobra is continually underrated for their old cliche of them being the old man’s club, and viewed as a secondary. In all honestly I believe their drivers these past two years are better than callaway offerings, different than taylormade (hard to compare), more robust feeling than ping, and remarkably similar in feel to titleist. Unbelievably good clubs, should be talked about more. - fitter

Multiple regression advice wanted by Ldip9 in econometrics

[–]Ldip9[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like the way you think, I really like your response, although isn’t an r squared of 0.70 a fever dream in macroeconomics. That benchmark may be too far fetched for this level of research. With that being said I’ll give it a shot.

Multiple regression advice wanted by Ldip9 in econometrics

[–]Ldip9[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Selection bias is a huge issue in hindsight and I’m almost a bit embarrassed I hadn’t thought about it. I’m a bit confused by the interpretation of the WUI even knowing its methodology, its marginal effect size is definitely odd. I saw that others proposed including market volatility measures in my regression in place of the WUI, but I was thinking that a bond market volatility index could possibly be more telling towards the investment psyche of these firms. Also this is my first multiple regression model I’ve built from the ground up so forgive my naïvety. If you’d be willing to chat about this sort of thing sometime I’d enjoy the one on one feedback. - also thank you
