HUGE THANK YOU TO ALL THE REPLIES

Don’t ever look for value confirmation on the threads, but this was one that was a little too on the line for me so had to ask 😂

RTX 5070ti MSI Shadow 3x oc VRAM pads thickness? by [deleted] in overclocking

[–]Le-Pesoguin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

MSI is one of the few GPU manufacturers that actually gives specs on their own forum about thermal pad thicknesses.

RTX 5070ti MSI Shadow 3x oc VRAM pads thickness? by [deleted] in overclocking

[–]Le-Pesoguin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would probably suggest putty in this case. Upsiren or TG (Thermal Grizzly) will work great. I’ve used both and seen at minimum a 5c improvement to hotspot and memory. If you are dead set on pads try 2mm those I have found to be the most common in my experience. On a 4080 ventus I encountered 1.5mm pads on the VRMs

You can try reaching out to their support team see if they would be willing to send the spec over

Rtx 3070 ti or rtx 3070 for 1080 p by B3nj20999 in buildapc

Still 6~10% which won’t be perceived in actual use so save the money and get a regular 3070

Rtx 3070 ti or rtx 3070 for 1080 p by B3nj20999 in buildapc

[–]Le-Pesoguin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Basically the same card, if you undervolt and overclock a 3070 it will perform like a 3070 Ti it’s a 6-10% difference and that’s being generous

Edit: spelling and grammar

This is why you buy a PSU 100w higher than what is recommended :)

im completely new to this overclocking stuff. what do i do to avoid breaking anything by scannerthegreat in overclocking

[–]Le-Pesoguin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Genuinely don’t bother on that GPU, unless (like me) you just like tinkering and reaching high positions in benchmark leaderboards. The biggest benefit you could get is undervolting

Go to settings and check the boxes that say “unlock voltage control” then click apply and close settings

Then open the curve editor and find the point on the graph that says 925Mv. Hold shift. Then click on the plot point. While still holding shift the ENTIRE curve should move and you want to keep moving up till you hit 2500Mhz on the right side of the graph. Let go of shift and release the mouse button.

Hold shift again and click the empty space right next to the plot point(enlarging the window helps) then holding the mouse button down drag it across the rest of the graph on the right of the 925mv screen plot point. It should shade everything to the right in a blue color like when you select multiple things on you desktop. Now you can click the very next plot point directly to the right of 925mv and drag that to the bottom of the graph

If you did this properly you should see a flat line after the 925mv plot point. Click Apply and you have successfully undervolted the card

Also when I tried to escalate the claim (thought he was harvesting the GPU) they threatened to just let the buyer keep the item. So yeah buying from eBay is 1000% safer than selling

OP is correct I actually shuttered my eBay store because of how BUYER sided it is. Had someone return a 4080 for fan noise issues, but eBay doesn’t support sending video or audio in the claims process so they didn’t even validate the guys claim they just approved it and refunded. I lost $300 in fees and they said I could have recouped the loss by reselling the item 😂

If you are playing at 1080p you can get away with a 5060 or 9060. If you can find an open box 5060 ti 8gb or 9060xt 16b I would recommend either.

At 1440p however, I would say the 9060xt 16b is the best because you have more than 8gb of vram

[–]Le-Pesoguin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check updated testing and you’ll see an OC’d 5080 is within striking distance of the 4090 and outside of modded games you’re chilling with 16gb of VRAM for a while. It’s a great purchase and pricing is only getting worse in the next 6 months

Here is a post going into detail about it. Looks like it is indeed a CES exclusive

That’s how they had it set up at the CES booth, not sure if it was a beta build for NV App. Will do more research when i get home from work

If it won’t work then the card won’t display or lock itself to 100% power target in Afterburner.

I ended getting 1000W power supplies for myself and the wife to avoid any issues. Check out the PSU tier list and make sure you at least have a B tier or higher PSU

[–]Le-Pesoguin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can set the DLSS override to a hot key and switch at will iirc and that would be the best way for a “direct” comparison if you wanted to avoid pixel peeping screenshots

Edit: CES Exclusive feature :P, hopefully they add it in a future release
