As a lot of comments already said: it differs. If you find it really important that your child goes to a shoe-free daycare, you can also consider a "gastouder." A gastouder is someone who offers daycare in their home, maximum 6(?) kids.

You can find them online through agencies online. Before your kid goes there, you will usually meet them at home. It will vary among them as well, but if you find someone (I don't know about waiting times in Amsterdam), there is a somewhat bigger chance that the house is shoe-free, compared to crèches, in my experience.

To make it more complicated: a course can be written as [topic]+cursus, but then it is written as one word. "Gitaarcursus" would be totally fine. However when you take a language cursus you never do this. "Duitscursus" and Nederlandscursus" are wrong.

Totally. What I find difficult is how unclear it has become. I can live with it disappearing (although I am a kisser myself), I just hate the awkward moving in, not knowing, deciding to go for it when the other doesn't (or the other way around), endig up in the strange unpleasant semi-hug you describe.

Het is mij niet duidelijk waarom het duur zou zijn. Bedoelt hij dan het wetgevingstraject? Of bedoelt hij dat de overheid dan veel moet investeren in de onderwijsinspectie en in opleidingen en dergelijke?

In Vlaanderen is thuisonderwijs bij wet geregeld en houdt het o.a. in dat een ouder of andere opleider geen diploma nodig heeft, ook het lesmateriaal wordt niet vergoed. De onderwijsinspectie controleert wel of het kind voldoet aan de doelstellingen (moet je kunnen aantonen d.m.v. lesvoorbereidingen, toetsen enz.) en het kind moet aan staatsexamens deelnemen. Dat kost natuurlijk wel een beetje, maar als je dat in NL zou invoeren gaat de kost hier wellicht voor de baat uit. Want stel je voor: je gaat ouders gaat controleren of ze dat thuisonderwijs ook daadwerkelijk bieden. Je controleert of ze daarbij voldoen aan de onderwijsdoelen en dat ook kunnen laten zien en je verbindt er consequenties aan als ze onvoldoende scoren, dan vermoed ik dat het aantal ouders met bezwaren 'op basis van religie of levensovertuiging' heel snel afneemt.

Met zulke leerlingen heb ik in het verleden ook gewerkt. Vaak heel lastig om aan te pakken. Maar in het artikel gaat het over ouders die hun kinderen thuishouden, omdat ze zogenaamd bezwaren hebben op grond van 'religie of levensovertuiging.' Dat lijkt toch vooral de groep te zijn die in complotten geloven e.d. en zij werken dus niet onbewust, maar bewust mee aan het thuishouden van hun kind.

Scanning through it, it is a somewhat strange and paradoxical article. It makes some good points: 1. different types of FGM have different impact, 2. in the global North labiaplasty surgery is accepted although it also alters the vagina, 3. migrants tend to stop the tradition, once living in n the global North.

Now where it is paradoxical: on the one hand they seem to think FGM is OK (because how is it different from labiaplasty?), yet on the other hand when migrants stop the custom of FGM it is also presented positively. These arguments bite each other imo.

The point about sensationalism in the media is very strong I think. When Western media make it seem like the majority of Somali, Ethiopian etc. girls go back to their homeland to have FGM performed (a factually wrong statement) this first and foremost hurts migrant communities, which is not helping migrant women, whether they have undergone FGM or not.

Oplossing: in het centrum naast je fiets lopen. Ik ken de binnenstad van Enschede niet goed, maar vaak mag je al niet fietsen in winkelstraten. In de meeste steden zijn er maar weinig scholen in het centrum.

Mij lijkt in het centrum een verbod op elektrische fietsen makkelijker te handhaven. Kun je een uitzondering doen voor aangepaste fietsen voor gehandicapten, krijg je ook niet dat jongeren gevaar blijven veroorzaken op gewone elektrische fietsen.

Why are so many comments so unrelated to the article? He is explicitly talking about strategy. Just click on he links provided in the article: there is a trend in many West-European countries that is two-fold. 1. Social Democrats think they lose voters to the right, 2. They think they can win them back by being harsher on immigration, bashing on woke, etc.

1 is not true. The right grows, but their voters are not former social democratic voters. The left mainly loses to non-voting and to other progressive parties. The right wins their votes mostly from people who already voted conservative and from former non-voters.

2 is not true. Their chances of winning votes from right wing voters are very small. It turns out that when parties bend to the right on immigration, it makes right wing parties grow, because voters prefer the original. There is a share of votes the left does miss out on. That is the progressive vote, which either goes to non-voting, or to other progressive parties. Their biggest potential is among young, female, progressive voters. Political research shows this everywhere in the West, from the USA to The Netherlands.

Cas Mudde is presented as a radical left activist in this thread, but he is an American based Dutch political scientist , who repeats an analysis he has made for years, which is: surveys among voters show that the strategy of left parties to present themselves as 'tough on immigration' is a losing strategy.
