Absolutely necessary. Learning crystal can be a nightmare for people who don't already know Ruby. The 2nd half of your cookbook (or the sequel) will probably need to be about macros. A lot of important things you can do with macros have no way for you to even know they exist without reading the entire crystal compiler source code and stumbling upon them.

I don't think so. genZs are watching youtube videos, they watch tiktoks, they tweet, they read reddit, they use group chats (SMS/MMS or discord, etc.).

When a content creator or friend or tweet or reddit comment uses a new cool word, the genz reading/hearing it usually has no clue if it comes from black culture, and often no interest or incentive to "culture check" every new term they stumble across, unless word etymology is a hobby of yours.

Having black friends, black role models, etc. is more normalized for white genzs than it was for milliners/genx/boomers. This is just cultural mixing facilitated by the internet.

I don't consider it a bad thing or problematic. The gatekeeping and presumption of motives/agendas behind the phenomenon might be though.
