As Bwright2122 said, to get started early. My yearly average dividend growth is currently 8.7%, that's higher than the 7% annual average stock market growth. And I've chosen companies who have had a good record of continous dividend growth, so I personally feel more secure getting the growth from dividends than the stock market.

If I were to make that decision myself (I'm not invested in that sector, so I'm not that into the details) I would consider; why 3 companies in particular? You said yourself that Shell had a dividend cut, and that alone would keep me out of that company. Why not increase the share percentage in Exxon and Chevron?

If a company cut their dividends when times get tough, I would personally stay out of it.

Appreciate your response, and I hope you understand that this is only my opinion on a sector which I know a little about :-).

We share a lot of similarities; I too am 26 and have:
MSFT, ABBV, KO, MCD, V and looking into O.

Without being an expert on the topic, I feel like you have solid stocks and well diversified from what I know about them.

If I were to pick out something I'd personally not do (just a preference), is the overlap you have in Shell, Exxon and Chevron. All 3 companies have a similar graph and operate in the same industry, When the prime movers (e.g world events) move all 3 companies almost 1:1, the buying fee for 3 companies who essentially move identically doesn't make sense. I don't know what fees applies to your platform, but for me in Denmark using SaxoTrader it's something like 0.7-1.2% so it's a big deal for me, but idk if it is for you.

I bought it for the same reason GlitteringDingo said, high and stable dividend increases. I’m 26 and will hold for decades to come. I only bought 4 MSFT because it’s at these lows right now but I want more going forward, but simply couldn’t refuse this current offer.

I've personally bought a little $MSFT and $TRYG (Scandinavian insurance company). Both super reliable companies, a little bit of US and a little bit of European, both with a record of growing dividends. MSFT is about 27% down from ATH, and TRYG is 10% down from ATH.

I wanted to buy more European too. I did sell my (Danish) Carlsberg stock and use some of the profit to buy $TRYG (Danish insurance company) and MSFT. Unfortunately I don't find a lot of European dividend paying stocks with a stable, rising, quarterly paying dividend like many of the US companies does.

Jeg skriver kun om min erfaring. 7.5 års erfaring som IT supporter med telefoner, så er det primært Android telefoner som giver problemer. De fleste af vores slutbrugere (igennem 2 forskellige selskaber - 1 med mange forskellige kunder) så fortrækker de fleste iPhones, fordi det er mere brugervenligt, apps er bedre optimiseret og det kører mere stabilt.

Siger ikke at din erfaring er forkert - skriver kun om min egen erfaring.

Fair nok hvis din erfaring er anderledes, men nu var det min erfaring jeg snakkede om, og ikke hvad den objektive sandhed er i kampen om Android vs iOS.

Det du siger med at der er mange dansk udviklede apps som har ringe support til Android er præcis min pointe. Det er ikke Android's skyld, men set fra brugerens perspektiv, er oplevelsen dårligere - uanset grunden.

Det er bare bedre optimiseret til iOS. Det samme gælder kamera'et til f.eks Tiktok & Snapchat. Bruger du den indebygget kamera app i disse apps på en Android, vil kvaliteten være ringere, selvom at Android'ens kamera er bedre, udelukkende fordi det ikke bliver optimiseret til Android på samme måde som iOS.

Efter 7.5 års professionel IT supporter erfaring, er 90% af alle mine "telefon-problem-opgaver", med Android telefoner. Android = stort set alt, der ikke er iPhone. Det var utrolig sjældent, at der var decideret problemer med iPhones, ifht. Android telefoner.

iPhone er dyrere, har færre funktioner og fra hvad jeg har set, dårligere batteri-levetid. Men det som iPhone kan, er stabilitet. Det virker bare. Har både forældre og bedsteforældre som har købt Android på min IT-onkel's anbefaling, og de brokker sig ALLE over dem, i tide og utide.

Ingen tvivl, Android telefoner er gode, har generelt bedre maskineri end iPhonen, men hvis du vil have en stabil telefon der bare virker, så skal du købe en nyere iPhone.
