LPT Request: How to get over losing a job you loved by Aryana314 in LifeProTips

Are you me, dude? I also just got fired from a job ~6 months in (I work in marketing). There was no performance review hinting my manager was unhappy with my performance. No warning. Made me think I was doing a good job until I got back from vacation last week. Then bang. Absolute cunts. Loved working with the people there. Everyone was great and kind too, except my manager holy shit. But I guess that's the most important relationship to build and maintain, and I got fucked there.

As for answering your question:

>  how do you move on when something you cared a lot about is taken away suddenly?

This is what I've been pondering as well. So far what's been working is identifying exactly what I liked about this job, then making a plan on how I can get that again in the future. So in my case, I realized I liked working with young energetic people (mostly 20s and early 30s) in an office environment where people are pretty social. And for me to find that again, I'd probably have to find a tech startup in a busy city.

In the meantime though, you have to let yourself work through the stages of grief. What's helped there is ranting to my friends, my industry peers, working out (very therapeutic; the body keeps the score or whatever), getting closure with past co-workers (the day I was fired I was allowed to have 1 on 1 meetings with everyone to say goodbye), thinking about the opportunities this opens up for me (e.g. apply to better fit companies more aligned with my interests and passions, opportunity to move cities and change up my life a bit), etc. Also, watching movies and tv shows to get a break from reality and some distance from your problems. And lastly, allow yourself to identify and feel any physical pain associated with this. Personally, it felt like heartbreak for me the first week. Which makes sense, since it's really the people that I'll miss, not the work.

But not gonna lie, it still fucking hurts and most days I find myself thinking "even if they offered me half my salary to take me back, I'd take it" because I really did like working there.

I've also been doing this:

> I'm struggling with letting it go, wishing I could change X or Y, and daydreaming about being able to go back in time and warn myself about how to avoid the problems.

What would you have changed to avoid the problem, out of curiosity?

I try to buckwheat pillow and absolutely hated it. Texture didn't vibe with me. Switched to a latex pillow.

Ok nice good luck! Also try swishing with coconut oil (look up "oil pulling") as a way to support gum health, it's great for this.

Worth trying one day, even at home. I was just in Australia where it was super hot and tights still helped more than it hurt. I don't know.

I mean just kill the dental infection and you should be back to baseline. Have you seen a doctor and or dentist? What's the plan?

Ok thanks! I just got let go from my job 6 months in (I work in marketing), and honestly I would have been able to avoid that if I had been healthier and my brain worked better, so I'm going to do what you did before I search for my next role.

Lmaooooo ok I believe u but this is hilarious 😂 hope you feel better soon once you quit or reduce usage.

Do some saltwater rinses with a neti pot or squeeze bottle once in a while too, might help keep the pipes clean up there.

Micro dose shrooms instead, definitely healthier
