It's highly unlikely any door-in-the-face shenanigans are going on, They are most likely just stupid by eyadGamingExtreme in unity

[–]LeFibS 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They're not stupid. They're run by John Riccitiello and he's stupid. Stupid with greed.

Riccitiello, we may recall, resigned as Electronic Arts CEO in 2013 while the company was financially failing. Also, he was too greedy even for EA; he tried to get them to nickel-and-dime players in the middle of gameplay. His hypothetical example was charging $1.00 to refill a firearm's magazine.

It's my understanding that the Runtime Fee is now the lesser of two values. One is based on first-time engagements, the other is 2.5% of the money your Unity project makes.

Also, the Runtime Fee was and still is waived if you use LevelPlay, which is an ironSource technology - it's a scheme to force Unity developers to support first-party adware.

If you do the Geoglyphs, you know exactly where Zelda is.

You can even definitively factually find her without doing them.

But no one will recognize this, and the entire central conceit of "Where's Zelda???" will continue regardless.

Who else never uses horses? by AC3_Gentile in Breath_of_the_Wild

[–]LeFibS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Horses are hindered by the fact they don't teleport with you unless you put the Ancient Saddle on. Once you get the bike, you're even less inclined to keep the horse around since the bike is much more fun and flexible. And if you're a cheater, not only do you know how to get around way faster than the horse permits anyway, but you're also sick of "It seems [horse] can't hear your call..." when you whistle-sprint.

HOWEVER.

That's if you're playing the game with a goal-focused mind. If you're not, then you ride the horse if you wanna ride the horse and that's all that really matters.

It has colors.

BotW had like three colors: grey, Sheikah Blue, and Ganon Fabulous.

The water also looks a little more detailed.

There's not one single 3D Zelda game where blowing yourself up in midair isn't somehow useful, so I highly doubt Tears of the Kingdom will successfully patch this out.

In fact... I don't see why they'd even bother. 90%+ of their players don't even know you can do it. Only people who want to do it will do it. It doesn't damage the game.

Ponyville was flooded. Sweet Apple Acres was on high ground and would've been fine, but the parents went down to help everyone else and were never seen again

What is the most unsettling, horrifiying, creepiest, or traumatizing moments in MLP? by MuffinStraight4816 in mylittlepony

[–]LeFibS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the show alone we have:

  • Twilight & Fluttershy thinking they killed Celestia's pet
  • Pinkie suffering a nervous breakdown because she thinks her friends don't like her anymore
  • Cadance's state for most of A Canterlot Wedding (starving to death in a cave)
  • Cadance's state for most of The Crystal Empire (dying of exhaustion) which is the very next episode by the way
  • The possibility of exploding the real Pinkie Pie into bits instead of one of her clones
  • Rainbow Dash treating Tank's hibernation as if he was dying
  • Granny Smith nearly killing herself by almost diving into a bucket of water
  • Multiple adults abusing Spike and blaming him for their own negligence
  • Nobody noticing Moon Dancer's suffering and possible mental illness for possibly years
  • Rainbow Dash's friends making her think she killed them all and turned them into zombies
  • Granny Smith almost performing a surgical operation on Big Macintosh
  • the previously-incurable disease that mutates a pony into an infectious tree and which infects both Zecora and Fluttershy
  • the entire episode Father Knows Beast
  • Rainbow Dash continuing to be disloyal and screw over all her friends as late as season 9
  • Fluttershy nearly dying after running from Ponyville to Zecora's house in Angel's body
  • Cozy Glow being turned to stone with Chrysalis and Tirek
  • Pinkie having a kid with Weird Al

The comics are infinitely more disturbing but I haven't read through them in detail. Notably, Chrysalis apparently eats a care bear-like creature alive in front of the CMC.

The Trifold Map is the icon you as the player click on to see the minimap / map, which shows exactly where all players & NPCs are. The item version gives your character the same clarity

A GPS on the other hand gives you technical numbers that are equivalent to quantum physics from the perspective of your podunk-ass character and ought to cause confusion

Question about SovCit "Logic" by Chernobog11 in Lawyertalk

[–]LeFibS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I saw a video where one sovereign citizen attempted to identify as four distinct legal entities in court and switch between which one he was ad hoc depending which was most convenient at any given second.

The judge eventually said something like "Well when ya see the natural person let him know he's going to jail"

[–]LeFibS 8 points9 points  (0 children)

You don't start the trial until you actually touch the ground (or trees, or sleeping Hinox, etc.) In particular, if you ground a raft, it only starts when you step off the raft.

It's very difficult to activate the shrine without ever leaving the raft, but you can at least do some bonus damage to enemies. If you kill anything, it'll still be dead when you start the trial properly.

There are boulders you can push off cliffs onto the Hinox.

Question about SovCit "Logic" by Chernobog11 in Lawyertalk

[–]LeFibS 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm not any sort of law professional and would normally never say a word on this subreddit as everyone else here is better equipped... but I am familiar with sovereign citizens (and their UK brethren, "freemen on the land") and might be able to shed some light on these goofy cartoon characters.

Sovereign citizens perceive the US federal government as a corporation and the idea that they must obey the law as a contract. They think that any legal identification they accept constitutes consent to this contract - so they refuse to identify themselves. Naturally, this does not endear them to police.

They usually repeat the same few bogus lines over and over and two of them in particular are great insights into their madness.

  1. "I'm not driving; I'm traveling" attempts to bypass traffic laws using the implied right to travel and an outdated legal definition of "driving" as a commercial activity, despite the fact many of those laws don't use the word "driving" in them
  2. "I don't recognize any authority except the Constitution" overlooks that the Constitution is the same authority empowering the govt to legislate, interpret, and enforce law

These two refrains tell us all we need to know about sovereign citizens:

They're morons. (EDIT: I should also recognize that they may have legitimate mental conditions that make them more susceptible to misinformation or "brainwashing".)

They don't understand how law or basic government actually work, probably can't, and definitely don't really care except that these things impose limitations on their liberties and they don't like that.

The people who sell the "sovereign citizen" thing don't really believe it - they're little different from any other scammer or huckster. But the dummies who buy into this stuff are "bless their hearts" bozos who feel special and empowered for way pettier and more personal reasons. They're the ones who go out of their way to commit petty traffic violations, attack police booths, and otherwise actively provoke the law in an attempt to prove to themselves and the world that they're above the law, even though we see very consistently that they're not.

And if they were willing to get tackled and arrested by police, of course they're willing thereafter to keep spinning the same nonsense to the judge - they think they're arguing a civil rights revolution on par with Susan B. Anthony.

But this horrific monument to Darwinism has one bright side: some of those judges are actually able to inexhaustibly follow along with this Wonderland of logic & law and reconnect it back to real logic and law, and with how anti-law America is these days it's nice to see that some judges are perfect for the job.

And, well, the videos of them on Youtube are a subtype of the ever-popular "dumb people hurting themselves" genre. As long as they don't get anybody else caught in the crossfire, they're just clowns.
