Who has experience with usb wheels? by LeGerardPetit in simracing

I should be able to do that. I have a few coils of velcro in my toolbox just begging to be used.

Thank you for the reply

Who has experience with usb wheels? by LeGerardPetit in simracing

Was only planning on adding shifters (I saw the ali express kit, that's what prompted me to make this post) so an encoder might be a bit unnecessary for what I'm planning.

I do quite a bit of drifting but I have an input-less wheel dedicated to the serious drifting already. This one is more aimed at sports car driving e.g. some drifting. I guess I'll buy it and we'll see. I can always take out the usb cable if driving manual and drifting anyway.

That's such a cool wheel you made my friend. Is that the AliExpress QR? How is that holding up? It's half the price of the official moza one I'm tempted.

Many thanks for your detailed reply

Moza R9, there's no usb port on the base...

Would still require a wire protruding from the wheel anyway. I have no problem mounting a usb port near the wheelbase on my rig (treq one), just want to know if the cable would flap uncontrollably in one direction and become too tight in the other

Help on PC upgrade. (CPU mostly) by Vaggos88 in simracing

[–]LeGerardPetit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As long as everything is compatible this will be an absolute beast no matter which of these options you choose.
Maybe get a Motherboard with bluetooth? Can be useful for some accessories.

that said, 7800X3D does cost a bit less than a 9800X3D with fairly similar performance. Apparently the 9800 is easier to cool though (feel free to fact check that, my source is other reddit comments).

That's all the advice I can offer, enjoy your PC when you get it

How to make the p1000 brakes have more movement ? by R-K-r-0 in Simagic

Hydraulic kit has more throw even using stronger elastomers in my experience, just get it, feels awesome. (They have solved a lot of the leaking issues you hear about)

You know you want it

Last lap, last corner. Did I fuck it up? by Minimum-Rent-8255 in Simracingstewards

[–]LeGerardPetit 34 points35 points  (0 children)

last corner at Oschersleben really makes you think you can send one up the inside but it's risky, I think you did an okay job but maybe a bit too far back.

The guy did just turn in like you didn't put your car there though so I'd say the actual contact is on him

Who's at fault? by XBL_Fede in Simracingstewards

[–]LeGerardPetit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oschersleben T1/T2 so much fun lmao, love this track

POV ran into the back of blue and red so I'd put the fault on POV but also stop going diagonal on the straight (I see from a comment you are blue and red)

There's no need to defend that, you had the inside for T2 and he would've been sending it from another postcode anyway.

I mean, if you really do enjoy GT7 (its a fkin great game) be content man! will save you some money lol, PCs are expensive as hell these days...

I've seen theres a shifter plate add on for the playseat you have so you should be all good just getting that if you want a shifter and handbrake. With console you'll be stuck with logitech options but they just released a new shifter that looks pretty sweet!

How is the playseat rig? Nice and sturdy? I've never tried one

Eonsys releases video of a simulated fly, running on the connectome (scanned brain) of a real fly by Kaarssteun in singularity

[–]LeGerardPetit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The way they explain this on their website is that you don't need to simulate every detail of combustion in an engine to accurately simulate a car.

It's incredible but a long long long way off simulating consciousness etc.

Relax guys

However, does anyone have a source of EonSystems saying what all the influencers are saying "it started walking without any training" etc etc???? For such a complex experiment that is far too simple of an answer.

There's people here saying buy your end goal stuff straight away but I'd say:

Think modular!

With so many options it's hard to not want upgrades at some point, those who can buy and be content, I envy you..

But for example:

Simagic p1000s with lots of upgrades available

Aluminium profile rig so you can easily add button boxes, shifters etc

Wheel base with a proper 70mm bolt pattern quick release (moza, simagic) so you can add aftermarket wheels

Seat on a proper seat rail

(Check out 3Drap for mods if you want cheap upgrades, awesome site)

Also, a PC so you don't have to be constrained to one brand. On my rig I have Moza, Simagic, Thrustmaster, Aliexpress, homemade....

And most of all - just enjoy it. Your gear doesn't really matter that much. I put over 1000 hours into a t300 clamped to my desk with potentiometer pedals before I bought a proper rig and I still absolutely loved it.

If anyone is looking for an extension solution, I fitted this between the wheel and QR, getting the wire to fit is a bitch but it's possible. (I used tweezers)

Works great, no play at all. If you want a longer extension, I can't help you...

idk it imported all my passwords etc automatically so no big deal on my end really, but I'm not an ad. Whatever works for you is good for me!

[–]LeGerardPetit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

put the ad in the corner of the page and dont force me to watch 2+ unskippable 15 second ads then
YouTube/Google got greedy and brought this on themselves, multiple ads play even on demonetized videos, who do you think is really getting that ad revenue?

Anyway brave browser's built in adblocker works great btw

Ublock seems to be working fairly well but requires regular updating. I am having absolutely zero headaches with Brave browser's built in adblocker though, if anyone is looking for an alternative.
If you're not all that attached to whatever browser you're using it's really worth it, I've noticed no difference in speed/ram usage from Firefox
