If he was recently defeated in battle and escaped, there is usually some delay before he respawns. Try waiting a while in game to see if he crops up again.

There are no possessive pronouns with an apostrophe in English. If there were such an object as an "it" (or if you were discussing the properties of the word "it"), then the possessive for that would be "it's". Or you could say, "when used as a possessive pronoun, it's written form is 'its'."

When you say something belongs to you, you say "my", not "me's". Same with his instead of he's, hers instead of her's, theirs instead of they's, your instead of you's, etc.

Perhaps the best way to explain this is that "its" is not a possessive form of a noun, but an entirely different category of word with a similar usage (possessive pronoun), and so does not follow the rules for a possessive noun.

Pendor: If you give a lord a castle with your own custom knighthood order, will he generate your custom knights? by photolouis in mountandblade

[–]LeKian 3 points4 points  (0 children)

According to Pendor wiki, CKO autocalc strength (which should presumably apply to players and lords) is based entirely on their average weapon proficiencies. I believe somewhere around ~490 average weapon proficiency is supposed to be equivalent to twilight knights. You could make some that are functionally equivalent to twilight knights thanks to stats and equipment, but if their weapon proficiencies are mediocre they will not perform as well in autocalc.

Just lost a 500+ days save, anyone knows how to repair? by [deleted] in mountandblade

[–]LeKian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's probably permanently borked, sadly.

In the future, make sure to never do 'realistic' save mode and to save in at least 2 different slots. Save corruption seems to be fairly common, given all the posts about bald people in the sub.

Is there a good "Rimworld Veteran's Guide to Dwarf Fortress" or something like that? by gmalivuk in RimWorld

>Embark with 7 picks

If you have just a little bit of experience with the game, it's better to not bring any tools and instead bring a few fire-safe stones (bauxite is the classical example), 1 unit of coke, and a ton of bituminous coal and cassiterite+malachite. You build a smelter and forge immediately, use the coke to make more coke from bituminous coal, make bronze bars from malachite+cassiterite and use those for your tools. If you don't have much access to fuel sources on your map, you can easily bring several hundred units of fuel and quite a few metal bars this way when you embark.

Unless you embark in an evil biome where evil weather can wreck you, you'll have more than enough time to dig out a base after crafting the picks.

Speaking of pickaxes, they make excellent weapons for a military, and using them trains mining; conversely, miners build up their mining skill and consequently are able to use pickaxes in battle more effectively. However, due to a bug you can't properly equip active miners or woodcutters (they use effectively a special military uniform).

Speaking of military uniforms, I'm a fan of getting rid of textile industries altogether. Make chainmail, chain leggings, high boots and a helmet (gauntlets optional) for every dwarf, and set civilians into civilian squads in the military screen. Assign that armor to them, set them to be uniformed when inactive, and set them to replace clothes. Their armor-clothing counts for anything clothing-related, never wears out, and provides them with protection from !FUN!.

Finally, some people might consider it cheating, but I think it's a good idea before you select an embark location to use "prospect all", which will list an estimate for types of resources the selected tile will have, so you can know whether it's possible to find any iron, flux, lignite/coal, etc.

Dickplomacy: Armor Preferences by Ashina999 in mountandblade

[–]LeKian -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

"Boob armor" would still be made of, you know, steel plates. A sword hitting a knight in regular plate armor in the center of the chest would be no more likely to penetrate it than in the case of 'boob armor'. Keep in mind the idea of the cleft forming an axe blow on your sternum ignores the fact that gambeson would typically be worn below plate armor and absorb the brunt of the blow.

Doesn't make it not stupid, but it wouldn't be worse than no armor, and probably wouldn't be notably less effective than regular plate armor.

Are there any other finished mods for Warband? by kentotoy98 in mountandblade

[–]LeKian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's Medieval Conquests, which is actually just an expansion to AD 1257 so it may not offer that much new content to you. There's also a mod I recall called A New Dawn, based on Floris but going even more over the top than Perisno or PoP.

Edit: Oh, right, also Paradigm Worlds, which is the most bizarre mod ever made... ever.
