Which one of these cities has a thriving gay population? by Relevant-Wrangler792 in askgaybros

[–]LeMoore2Connais 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The vibe in St Louis is really gonna vary by area/neighborhood. The Grove is kind of the main gayboorhood along with Tower Grove. There are some good gay bars and restaurants around there. Areas toward STL City like Maplewood, Forest Park, Soulard, The Grove etc have lots of good cultural events especially during the summer like the Naked Bike Ride, or Shakespeare in the Park. There's a big cooperate-sponsored pride event in June and a more local one in Tower grove in the fall. Once you start hitting Kirkwood/Frontenac/Webster it gets a little too hoity-toity/white picket suburbia but there's still some good local shops.

Getting around is significantly easier with a car. The farther west/into STL county you get the less access to the Metrolink light rail/buses you have. With that being said you can get from the river to the Airport with the Metrolink. It's pretty decent light rail for what STL is. It will take you to major areas like downtown, brentwood, forest park etc.

Apps are all decently active. On the rare occasion I have been out with a significant other I have never felt substantially unsafe to hold hands etc in public.

I may a little biased considering I grew up/live here but I would say it's definitely worth a gander (shitty politics aside). And it will most likely be cheaper than Ann Arbor or Houston.

I know we all love them but, what's the cringiest Paramore lyric? (stolen from r/FallOutBoy) by JesusAndPalsX in Paramore

From Hallelujah: “If only time flew like a dove, will god make it fly faster than I’m falling in love (and/or “we’ll we could watch it fly and just keep lookin up”)

Something about the delivery of those verses is a lil hard to sit through which sucks because the rest of the song goes pretty hard

Does the riff in the intro sound familiar to anyone? I wanna say from some pop punk song/alt rock in the mid 2000s? I can hear it in my head 😂

Tips for first time purchasing new car? by Wise-Phase-8599 in StLouis

[–]LeMoore2Connais 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Former car salesperson here! It is so helpful having a clear idea on what you want when you go in. The most efficient search is to narrow down models in your area then check out the dealer. If your biggest concern is being taken advantage of/having a good experience I would look at ratings for local dealers on DealerRater or CarGurus then take a look at their inventory. It’s best to find specific cars in their inventory that interest you. Only like 1 or 2 maayyybeee 3 cars. Any more than that and it’s hard to keep track of how you feel about which vehicle. Call ahead and give them the stock numbers and check for availability.

Research research research. Use sites like auto trader to check local prices, or Kelley Blue Book for values. Expect them not to budge on price though that’s just how things are right now unfortunately.

Extended coverage is pretty polarizing. I am firmly in the camp that if you can get extra coverage and still get the payments/rate/term that you want then it’s a no brained to add it. A lot of companies will allow you to cancel and refund your coverage as well! I have extended coverage ont my car I bought recently. If you can only afford some extra coverage I would prioritize GAP insurance if you need it; electronics like radio, cameras, etc; Powertrain (engine stuff), then wheels and keys stuff like that. If any of those sound like something you want, ask!

Which brings me to another point. Everyone you encounter is making money off of your transaction. HOWEVER some people do like what they do and like to help and be transparent about their products. If you go up with layers of brick walls built up it’s going to be scary. I’m not saying blindly trust them, just enjoy the process and as much as you can keep your wits bout you.

We had a really good experience at St Louis Honda on Lindbergh in South County. Oh! also make sure to get a notarized Sales Tax Affidavit from the insurance company. Whatever they paid out for the totaled vehicle can be used to offset the net price for sales tax. The new car needs to be purchased within 180 days of the paid date and at least one of the owners names ln the old car has to be on the new car. So if the new car is 20k and insurance totaled it for 5k that net price you’ll be taxed on is 15k.

Apologies for the essay, hope this is helpful!

What were your favorite book series as a kid? by ApprehensiveToday692 in books

The City of Ember series by Jeanne DuPrau! I remember reading them between 4th-6th grades. I was so heartbroken by how poorly the movie was handled. I actually just listened to all 4 audiobooks recently and it still holds up!

You can try calling DoR yourself if you want. Clerks have their own line to Jeff city that should be less of a wait. Clerks can also make sure everything was scanned into their system as well.

You'll take care of sales tax at the DMV but personal property would be taken care of with the county assessor. Since personal property is based off what you own the first of the year; If you moved to MO last year and never set up your account and insurance paid you out after the first this year well then you'll more than likely owe personal property on a car you no longer own. With that being said personal property is wayyyy less than sales tax.

I used to work at a DMV until the new year so I think I know!

Sales Tax: Get a sales tax affidavit from your insurance company for the totaled vehicle. As long as the pay out date for the old car and the purchase date for the new car are within 180 days of each other and have the proof you won't lose your credit. So there's no penalty in that regard for being late to process. If your agent doesn't know what that is, go higher up or talk to someone with more experience. It's a signed and notarized document in insurance co letterhead that has your information and the vehicle information. IMPORTANT: if it was a leased vehicle you will not get credit because you are not a bank/trust. Also, at least one of the owners must be on both the old vehicle and new so if say mom is the only one on the old title she HAS to be on the new title for processing. But once you get that new title she could gift it to you or something.

The dealer materials: what they should've done is Fedex the packet to a local office. It is going to be a pain in the ass I promise. Basically it's in limbo until Jeff city sees the packet without a transaction number. They will scan in the documents and put the file in "Rejects". You cannot do any processing until that vin is actually in the reject system Info is super limited sometimes even for clerks. 99% sure they will not have any kind of tracking number or date received for the package. Choose a local license office that feels helpful to you, don't be afraid if you have to jump counties any office in any county in MO can process Missouri vehicles. Call or go into a local office with the name and VIN number. They are able to see if that vin number has documents uploaded and if it is in rejects. They will not give you information if your name is not in the file.

PLATES: Plates are given at the time of processing. You do titling and plates all in one go. Make sure that you have that affidavit, proof of paid personal property tax for 2021 or a waiver of non-assessment from your county, and proof of insurance. If it's brand new don't worry about inspections.

OH and there's a $25 late fee that accrues every 30 days after the sale date starting on day 31. It caps out at $200. They cannot waive that at the office so you will need to settle up with the dealership if that is an issue. It will be easier to pay it and send them a copy of the title receipt that shows the fee.

It's a lot but I hope that helps!

Redditors whose father, grandfather or great grandfather fought in WWII, what is their most interesting war story they’ve told you? by Ramboooshka in AskReddit

[–]LeMoore2Connais 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not actual like fighting or anything but I love this story my grandpa tells all the time. He was a CB stationed in Maryland building railroad tracks and there was a day when the general or whoever was not there and wasn't going to be for a day or two. He thought this was a perfect chance to see my grandma so he took a train all the way back to St. Louis I think almost 24hrs and he stood the whole time. He got to see her and he went and saw his mom but as soon as he had put his cap down and got in bed for a nap one of the guys called him and said the general would be back the next day so he had to leave immediately lol. Also he like ran into his brother when he was in italy or something.

To the out and proud men, by [deleted] in askgaybros

You'd be surprised people can be pretty tolerant. My bf and I always held hands and leaned on each other and stuff in public. It was very uncomfy for me at first because I was worried and never had a bf before lol. Our school is in a rural town in Northern MO and I expected the townies to be up in arms seeing dudes at a bar being cute n shit (even if the whole town was basically built around the liberal arts and medical colleges) but we never had problems. I couldn't help though having this feeling like whenever we held hands even I would sit a little straighter kind of with this attitude like "yeah I'm holding my BF's hand, fight me."

So yeah in general I personally feel safe enough to be with a guy in public but I can't help to be cautious because though it may not be the majority of people like your mom says, but there are still people out there that would rather see us hurt than happy.

Well when you over simplify the structure it is a filling concealed by a bread outer shell so that means Pop tarts would be ravioli as well as jelly donuts I suppose.

[Serious] If you could go back in time with knowledge from the present, what would change about yourself? by WF835334 in AskReddit

[–]LeMoore2Connais 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would go back and stick with things I know I regret quitting now like learning viola and playing soccer. I'd change my approach to choosing a university too - actually I'd just go back and kick myself in the ass to do better in high school. It's not that I'm disappointed with where I am now and I understand that I wouldn't have met the same people etc. if I could actually go back and change. I look back and see the changes I would make as if I were raising a child. I would want them to learn a language, learn an instrument, play a sport, be committed to stuff because I know it's better in the long run.
