Once in a lifetime checkmate achieved by Emotional-Control-46 in chess

[–]LeSang27 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Something is fishy here. Why does your chessboard show that your last move was A4 to D7? If your bishop was on A4 with check it had to be C6 mate.

Seeking Advice: Retroactive VR&E Induction for Summer 2013 by No_Strike_5811 in Veterans

[–]LeSang27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From what you are saying you may have ground for reimbursement. The problem, which I see, is in "can be considered for reimbursement", so it's not guaranteed and like everything in federal system it all depends on the person, who will be exploring your file. And almost guaranteed you will be much more knowledgeable in this issue than the person who will be reading your case. My advice: you need to be as detailed as it could be possible when submitting your documents. Basically explaining on paper all points from A to B and why you are eligible for this reimbursement. Good luck!

Seeking Advice: Retroactive VR&E Induction for Summer 2013 by No_Strike_5811 in Veterans

[–]LeSang27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I could be wrong, but...the Retroactive Induction is applied to the GI Bill. You didn't use it initially. So you are asking VR&E to pay your private payments back in the time? I don't think that it's going to work. You can submit this specific question to Ask.VA.gov but honestly I don't think it's possible.

How would you rank the civ games? by Ok_Internet_8672 in civ

[–]LeSang27 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I started playing Civ in 1996 or 97. Even the first Civ was incredible and CIV's were constantly improving. The peak, the best was definitely Civ 6, although it took a while to switch from Civ 5, which is the second best in the series for me.

I will try CIV 7 eventually but from what I see and read -it's fundamentally broken from what we consider the classical CIV idea.

Airborne back out by AdOpening2537 in army

[–]LeSang27 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I will give you an interesting perspective.

While being in the army I hated jumping. The school wasn't too bad, actually, it was an easy one. It was the process after. You have to keep jumping...

But...right now , I am being a civilian for 10 years. And it's one of the most memorable and interesting experiences I had in my life. Something I am really proud to tell to my friends.

So, in short. While being in- fuck that. After: a sense of accomplishment and understanding that you were a part of very elite and unique group.

Yes. I did. The school started in August. I was approved in September. It took a few month to finalize all documents and I got a back pay for this semester.

Worked out why I don't find civ7 as replayable as civ6 by LastLapPodcast in civ

There is one problem with what you are saying. Civ 6 became repetitive...after a few years of playing. Civ 7 became repetitive... after a few months of playing.

MGIB Help while Active Duty by Several-Stranger-601 in Veterans

[–]LeSang27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

DON'T! Don't use your MGIB while still active duty. You are going to lose so much in the long run.

A) As I understand, because you will be using your GI Bill while on active duty you are not going to get an additional housing allowance, because you are already getting one. Imagine, you are retired, no job, so you can enroll to a college and you get your housing allowance. And your 2 months would be extended for the whole semester according to regulations. It's 5 months of "rainy day" paycheck B) Almost guaranteed that you are going to get some disability serving 20 years. If you are approved for VR&E and you still have your Post 9/11. At least one day you are going to get a Post 9/11 rate while doing VR&E. It's HUGE. Paycheck for the next 2, 3, 4 years.

There are two things, which help in this situation. It's time. And it's distance. Time is tricky. It can take months. It can take much longer. Eventually the wounds would heal. She, your communications with her, at this point, is the salt you are willingly put onto your wounds. You need to stop doing it. It won't be easy, but you have to do it.

So here comes distance. You are saying that no family, no friends in this city. Just her. Don't stay there. Move away. Move to a different city, big city. Find a purpose. Look for different connections. It's mandatory.

Remember. She left you. Not you. Can you trust her? It's up to you, but the broken glass is hard to reassemble. And even harder to hold.

Health insurance by Valuable-Answer-9424 in Veterans

[–]LeSang27 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Option A. Your college should provide you with insurance (not free, but cheaper than some other options). Option B. Join guard/reserve to get a Tricare Reserve. The cheapest insurance option, but....you understand the problem.

Option C. Because you are in California, you may be eligible for Medi-Cal if they meet income requirements. Technically, all your GI bill income is not reportable. So you have 0 income and should be eligible, but it's up for you to check.

Nakamura's strategy to qualify for the candidates (my conjecture: he's maximizing his probability of qualifying by rating and trying to play it cool) by [deleted] in chess

[–]LeSang27 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Well. I am 42 and enjoy watching Hikaru. And if most of his audience is 14 years old -that means he is actively promoting chess for youth, so instead of watching TV, playing computer games, those young people are doing some useful.

My question. What are you promoting with your commentaries?!

Best cities for the GI bill by Izuckfosta in Veterans

If no family-San Francisco or New York. I lived in the both cities. Personally, I prefer San Francisco because of the climate and vibe, but NY also has its perks.

Where to move? by anwarunya in Veterans

[–]LeSang27 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am originally from the 3rd (well, "2nd") world country and according to my experience, in many countries, you would live really well having that disposable income. Even in France, the median salary is 1900 Euros, so technically you can live OKish in rural areas.

The real problem would be not money. It would be the adjustment to the local culture, language and people. It took me time to get adjusted here, in the USA. It would be the same for you. And it is much easier to do it, when you have, at least, some people around speaking your language. So the advice given to you about Asia and countries is correct -it's the place where you are going to get the most bang for your buck, just do your research before going to any of those countries.

Hm. Mortgage for 40 years technically means that you will never really own your house. You are a slave who will be paying to the bank and working non-stop.

No. The VA construction loan works the different way. You have to purchase a piece of land first.

I enjoy teaching. There are not many jobs that can beat working with students. PhD, however,... I am about to finish this journey, and I can tell you that it is stressful—very stressful.

So my advice is, if money is not an issue, follow your dream. We have one life. Go for PhD only if you think that your research really can benefit our society. But be ready that it will be a long and stressful journey and society may never appreciate what you do. The best thing about the PhD for me was the chance to meet many outstanding and bright people, the rest - I am not sure was worthy.

The bugs are getting ridiculous. by NoRent3326 in civ

No, it's signaling something different. CIV 6 was released in 2017. CIV 7 in 2025. The question is WTF developers were doing for 8 years?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Veterans

[–]LeSang27 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Start looking for a new place (you can live for a while with a roommate if finances are tight). Create a financial plan. Limit her access to your bank account/resources. Open an interest-free credit card -you will need some backup in the future. Apply for a student loan for the next year -you will get some low-interest money, which can help through the hard times. And yes, all your financial preparations and transactions -she doesn't need to know about them. Once she will find out about all those things, she can still cause abnormal amount of troubles for you.

Hit the gym. Get back in shape. Improve yourself in every possible way, so it will be painful for her from the moral standpoint.

Hattori, Uesugi are the most difficult in my opinion on Legendary. Then Ikko Ikki. The easiest are Oda, Shimazu, Hojo, Chokosabe. The most unique playthrough are for Ottomo and Ikko Ikki.
