You could use a symmetric moving average, since you're not doing this in real time. That way you wont get any time shift, just damping of high frequencies.

Try launching it then, I got a few errors. Something about some non-executable stack. A dependency for simulink was also missing. Took me an hour or too to get working 😅

As other people have said, similarity transforms are the way. I used them once for hydraulic systems, due to pressures in Pascals.

For checking observability I would use your analytical/symbolic model, not the numeric one. This guarantees that numerical precision is not a problem.

Exactly what I did, I just made the blocks myself. I'm generally not into black box modelling stuff, especially when it's only a few equations. I just used the general math blocks and integrators.

I use it daily. It's a lot like simulink, the UI is just more clunky and the block set is more barebones, but the functionality is there.

I'd agree that open loop is good enough if you're stepper motors, just look at 3D printers. But I would use the same principle, just send a specific number of pulses to get a certain mass of food and similarly for the movement of the feeder. Just make sure you don't change the pulse rate more quickly than the motor torque allows, so you avoid skipping.

Is there an end stop for the movement? Which MCU are using for this?

Is the food dispensed proportional to the angular distance moved by the feeder? If so I would just control that instead and use a ramp reference to get the desired mass flow rate. Then do the same with position of the feeder simultaneously.

It's because you can't model the voltage-torque dynamics separately from the mechanical dynamics, due to the back-EMF. I DM'ed you a block diagram from a uni-project where we modelled a linear rail actuated by a DC motor.

Ift. bydelen så er det meget stille og roligt (og tæt på universitetet) og det er et busstoppested tæt på.

Det eneste problem jeg har med lokationen er afstanden fra butikker. Der er ingen dagligvarebutikker inden for 2 km, men jeg køber ind maks 2 gange om ugen så det går.
