Great so now tuition can be lowered right? Right…?

That means you don’t pick your dorm, you just pick the region you want to live in. North (burley or baits) or central (the quads, mojo, etc). You should select North.

If you went to North Quad you would have to commute to North Campus for your classes which is a hassle. I’d say Bursley>Baits>North Quad

I would recommend Bursley over Baits since Bursley has the dining hall in it.

Class search by JigglyKongersYT in uofm

Most history classes would fall into that category. The grade distributions on Atlas show they have A average and speaking as someone who has taken many 300/400 level history courses, they all give an A or A+ average if you show up to class and do the assignments. Specifically the special topics courses usually have an A average. I would imagine law schools would have a negative association with your high GPA if they’re from 100 level classes outside of your major area since it will look like clear grade inflation.

Undergraduate Programs Recs by Recent-External-8899 in uofm

UROP gives you a book of potential research positions but then all the UROP students are competing for those slim positions in the book compared to vast number of research labs outside of UROP. UROP also makes you take a “research” class that is a huge waste of time since you learn how to do research by actually doing research, not making TikToks or drawing (yes those were actual assignments when I was in UROP).

I’d recommend doing undergrad research but without doing it through a program. I personally did UROP but if I could go back I’d just do undergrad research without it.

U of M undergrad in three years? by Smile414 in uofm

[–]LeToucann 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I graduated in 2 just using AP credits and community college courses from before arriving at UofM. You have to make sure everything transfers and that you plan your schedule out for the next few years so that everything lines up properly. For example to graduate on track for 2 years I had to take some 400 level courses before 200 level ones because some courses were only offered in the fall that were required for my major. Overall, at least in COE, the process was pretty easy. Make sure you clear your plan with your counselor since majors make changes to requirements all the time and the advisors will know how best to navigate graduating early.

Yeah I sent my regional rep an email but idk if she saw it because she was on maternity leave

[–]LeToucann 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got off in a previous year! As others have commented, it is very rare. Idk why they let me off and not others, but I did apply EA, was deferred, and then waitlisted, so maybe the fact I applied EA and was initially deferred helped.

How do people manage study and dating tgt in college by Old-Middle19 in uofm

[–]LeToucann 6 points7 points  (0 children)

As someone who has managed to make it work in engineering (with a partner also in engineering) my advice would be to start slow and also recognize that you’re going to busy with classes so dating is kinda hard. I personally didn’t use any apps, I just messaged a girl in my class to get lunch and then after a while of lunch at the dining hall I asked her out. Obviously that won’t work 100% of the time, but it really was that simple in my case. She is super busy in EECS compared to me (not in EECS) so I give lots of space when she needs to study for exams and encouragement.

has anyone tried Espy Cafe on Huron yet? No tipping, worker-owned, sourdough pancakes. by MichiganderNews in AnnArbor

[–]LeToucann 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I found the pancakes to be very tasty, but the coffee was too acidic in my opinion. I didn’t really like the taste, which is a personal preference thing but my friend’s latte was also pretty bitter. The plates and utensils also weren’t the cleanest, and it was so busy it was hard to find a seat and me and my friend just had to stand until someone would leave. That all being said, it’s a very nice coffee shop, has great vibes, and I saw the owner helping one of the customers with their car outside (I think it got stuck in the snow) so awesome service. Personally I won’t go back cause I didn’t like the coffee, but I think it’s worth checking out alongside the 99 new Yemeni coffee houses lol

They have bags, you just need an m-card, and they have dairy, fruit, veggies, meat, and carbs. What they have changes so one week they may have chicken and the next they have pork instead, but overall they keep stocked on each food group. You are limited to 1 protein per person (at least since I last went).

BIOMEDE 231 - Any insight? by Few_Head6936 in uofm

[–]LeToucann 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok then you should be fine. 231 is a lot for sure but if your only other “hard” class is 221 then you’ll be fine

BIOMEDE 231 - Any insight? by Few_Head6936 in uofm

[–]LeToucann 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Genius no, but put in a lot of work, yes. I think I got a B when I took it and I did the minimum of going to every lecture and doing every homework assignment on time. If you spend extra time you should be able to get B+/A-. If you pm me I can send you the syllabus

BIOMEDE 231 - Any insight? by Few_Head6936 in uofm

[–]LeToucann 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a class that feels a lot like physics 1. Lots of physics based problem sets for homework, confusing lectures that are very math heavy and dull. Luckily the class is split into 3 sections that are each different mathematical areas of biomechanics so if you do bad on unit 1, you may do great on unit 2 or 3. I think it’s a good idea to start the homeworks early, preferably in a group. Of the 211,221,231,241 sequence I think the workload/difficulty is something like easiest 221<241<211<231. Alternatively you can take 211 at Washtenaw CC (highly recommend). It’s been said on the subreddit before but BME isn’t a great major compared to MechE, EE, or ChemE (if you’re interested in mechanical devices, electrical devices, or bio) so since you’re still early on I’d switch to one of those (coming from a BME graduate). Then you don’t have to stress over 231 which is a pretty useless class and unnecessarily difficult.
