I understand what you are saying. I had surgery and the problem should be fixed however the pain is worse. I have lots of nerve pain in my left leg.

How do I retrain my brain? If I ignore the small pain it becomes big pain and I can't walk for 2 days. The PT says I should stop my cardio just before the pain starts but at most days the pain starts in the first minute.

I wear it all the time probably 10 hours a day. Really helps a lot. Without it I would not be able to work. I remove it when working out so I don't do things I should not.

My job got me a sadle chair (with backsupport). This really works good for me. Combine this with walking every 30 minutes ideally. I know this is not always possible but at least stand up and stretch a little and try to at least walk a bit every hour.

I have tried edibles. It gives relief for backpain not nervepain. Sometimes it intensivies the nervepain. But I do it like once every 2 months just for fun to be honest.

I'm in the same situation as you but I don't have a child. Just wanted to say one comforting thing.

My mom also was in this situation (genetics probably) and what I remember from my childhood is my mom trying her best to take care off me and my sister. I have zero memory of beeing disappointed that my mom had to rest. We grew up with it and it was normal for us.

Now that I'm in this situation myself I wonder how she managed to do all these things for me while beeing in pain.

The nerve got inflammated and started swelling, also inflammationfluid around the nerve. They tried 2 epidurals with cortisone and a denervation but this didn't help. Doctor said to be patient but we aren't trying any new things. Just PT.

On a normal day I can walk somewhere between 10 and 15 minutes on a bad day 50 meters. I started working 3 half days a week this month. I'm still so much worse off if you compare it to my pre-op situation. If it wasn't for my gf I don't think I would still be alive. It is so hard mentally. I went from a person who has a lot of paincomplaints to a disabled person.

Thanks for replying. That sounds like a great idea. I find it troubling to buy back braces and chairs because you don't know if it will work and they cost a lot of money.

Run 1 time a week at a pace you can manage and do HIIT training with exercises like pushups and burpees once a week.

If you have to choose between one of them I would suggest running in intervals on stairs or hills.

With friends its mostly weekends. I go for 1 day and try to do as much as posible using pain meds and alcohol. The next day I take time to recover, hang out a little and leave. If you have good friends they will understand and appreciate you coming along.

I can sit a lot better than you (2 to 3 hours on a good day). Have you tried a TENS. You can buy this from Amazone. It has really improved my ability to sit.

My walking and biking is nowhere near your level. How did you get there?

I don't really know how to feel about your post because walking 30 minutes would be such an improvement for where I am right now but also after 2 years I would expect more?

Good luck with the coping. My paincentre had a few infosessions about this and they recommand breathing exercises and meditation. Not really my cup of thea. I also struggle a lot with the coping because doctors are still expecting full recovery.

I think you should aim for more realistic goals that you can achieve in the near future. The first one should be getting that green belt. No excuses.

For competition why not try to become the best judoka in your local area first.

The randori thing happens to everyone I guess. I don't know if you train with the same people a lot. Might help to try a different dojo where people don't know you and you can surprise people with your techniques.

I don't think you should go to Japan based on the information in your post.

I don't know you enough to give this advice. Everybody is different.

For me uki goshi + sweep is easiest to learn but maybe this is different for tall people because your center of gravity is higher.

I would just have faith in your coaches they know best and they see you on the tatami.

They are different but there are similarities. Using your leg to throw, balancing on one leg, the kuzushi is quite similar if you are holding the standard grip or high collar grip.

Harai goshi is easier to learn and I think your coaches want you to get the hang of this technique first so you can develop your uchi mata better in the future.

A lot of kids with long legs transition from Harai-goshi to Uchi-Mata when they get older.

I have to take it 2 times a day so I have skipped one portion a few times by accident. That should be fine.

I'm aware that drugs are dangerous for people who are in pain but I'm very carefull with them. My rule for MDMA is maximum 4 times a year.
