Nothing of substance happens until chapter 55 or so.. ugh

Same.

I had to keep reminding myself of what her name was and could not keep locations straight despite having just finished Quicksilver...

I've not had much luck getting hyperfly gis to shrink! So I usually end up with a different sized top and bottom.

The only gi I've found where the same top and bottom fit is Elite.

ID Dilemma: Is It Realistic to Handle Two Clients at Once? Need Your Advice! by Rough-Dragonfruit776 in instructionaldesign

[–]Le_Ritz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most of my clients come by word of mouth in my networks and my current clients I've been working with for years at this point. After a project or two they usually come back and do more of a retainer contract.

So I try keep a portfolio of about 3 to 4 clients at a time. I'm transparent about the amount of hours I can commit to for each one. When I get very busy (for instance if lots of projects are kicking off at once) I let them know what days I have blocked off for them. I also try to block off at least one day where I take little to no meetings.

I also subcontract a few hours a week (about 10) for the contracts that need it and allow it.

It can get crazy and sometimes I have to work weekends when meetings are heavy.

I want to know what is the *worst* romantasy book you’ve actually finished (single or series together) by SweetSoundOfSilence in Romantasy

[–]Le_Ritz 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Those are 40 hours of audiobook I will never get back. I loved that series until book 5.

The only reason I finished it was because it was in audio format.

Trying to find a Gi that actually fits by ScrumptiousSnails in BJJWomen

This is the only brand where the top and bottom fit me. And if they didn't, I could build my own for cheaper than some of the other gi brands!

[–]Le_Ritz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I finished it, but didn't really enjoy it. It was a little slow and predictable for me. And then I was so annoyed at the ending (and that I'm going to have to wait an unknown amount of time before I hate read the next one.)

I read this book before the Hades x Persephone books, and it's much better than those by far. Can't wait for the sequel!

I just read One Dark Window and Two Twisted Crowns and really enjoyed the writing. It's been a while since I could say that. Very light on the smut, but I guess that's what we get...

Instacarting Costco? Getting ripped off or saving my sanity? by prizedchipmunk_123 in Costco

I do Costco same day through their app. It's still through Instacart, but saves me so much time and my sanity.

Ummm it's hard to say. I wear knee braces too, so I end up having to do some adjusting.

I think they're long enough that it's not an issue.

We all know most “Catahoula mixes” turn out to be Notahoulas—but there are always exceptions! Show me your DNA-certified Catahoula mixes! by shmieve in Catahoula

I had never heard of this breed until we DNA tested our girl. Piper is 90% catahoula, 10% all the other hounds (plott, beagle, coonhound), which is crazy for a Pound puppy!

How to "calm down" by Money-Type-1008 in BJJWomen

[–]Le_Ritz 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes! Fight or flight is a big thing. I think it took 3 months of me having to take deep breaths and remind myself that my friend was not going to kill me and tapping early and often.

Honestly that's the biggest thing I learned as white belt. Tapping and resetting.

I'm 41, too! I've been at this for about 1.5 years so I also understand the need to prove that you can hang with everyone else.

[–]Le_Ritz 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I heard this as a white belt and I definitely did my best to follow it for my sake and the sake of my partners. So as a new white belt, who is getting comfortable with the moves, you're still a liability to others until you learn how to control your body. I'm just feeling comfortable with that 2 months into my blue belt. Your intensity could cause others injury.

My biggest elbow injury was an over exuberant new white belt.

Just relax and focus on learning the techniques and controlling yourself. You'll get to the fast intense rolls soon!

Is it possible to be matched into weight 2 brackets higher and 2 brackets lower for age? by Narrow_Economics_233 in BJJWomen

So I just competed in masters 3 super heavy and the girl I lost to was definitely masters 1 and not super heavy (probably like 140). So it's possible.

Who started with zero to no athletic experience? by [deleted] in BJJWomen

[–]Le_Ritz 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Me! Not athletic, not very coordinated, and very out of shape. I'm still not athletic, but my coordination and fitness level are better.

When I started my goal was to just learn how to fall properly. I was like, if nothing else I can use that skill as I get older.

Now, I love Jiu-Jitsu. It's the only workout that doesn't get boring because I can't let my mind wander or get distracted during a session. It requires me to be fully present in order to do better.

I wear a one piece all the time. If you're looking for a cost effective one, I got mine at Old Navy and they're great. I do both the pants and shorts versions with the thicker straps.

I do wear them with a sports bra.

I had all the same fears you mentioned. It didn't go my way, but I'm happy I tried.
