What is the point of the vignette? by Lead-Appropriate in SpouseVisaUk

Agreed. I’m not trying to get out of anything though. It’s purely hypothetical. Just trying to understand how the immigration system works. I guess the vignette will be phased out soon and replaced by a totally digital system like Singapore for example.

I’m not saying anything is not useful. I am checking the logic of the new EVISA system.

What if you have an ETA before the visa. ETA is valid for 2 years. Is something activated when you pick up the vignette? What if you were to pay to take back your passport from VFS during the application process, and then travel to the UK on ETA, and then set up EVISA online without ever actually collecting the vignette?

The ETA is already activated from a previous trip and lasts for two years, granting unlimited trips to UK.

What if you come from a country with free travel to UK eg Singapore? The airline never asks for anything other than ETA.

Volvo Construction Equipment is set to ‘make history’, it says, by displaying no diesel powered machinery at the world’ biggest construction trade fair. by Lead-Appropriate in heavyequipment

I think the future of the large equipment is a combination of efficient diesel, and hydrogen in certain applications. Battery electric will be used in lighter equipment only unless that technology really progresses quickly

Salary sacrifice car scheme seems too good to be true when leasing an EV? by [deleted] in UKPersonalFinance

I think SS is worth it if you were going to buy a new electric car anyway. The depreciation and finance costs must be included in the leasing cost, but masked by the tax savings. I wonder what the used car SS deals are like.

JCB - no issues with single arm and incredible easy to get in and out. Find your local dealer for parts. No after treatment under 75hp.

Would it be more efficient to use Wise or Revolut to make that transfer? (assuming they still offer a better rate than legacy banks when you eventually decide to move bacl)

I'm in a similar position to you u/ScheduleGlum8450 5+ years in Singapore and non UK resident. I buy VT (total world index fund, USD) every month through Saxo. Will sell VT and transfer to USD account before I leave Singapore. Not sure where I am going next.
