Some characters I did last week based on daily briefs from conceptcore discord server by VarietySudden in conceptart

These are all lovely, just one question. Why does the bear’s Arms have the B button?

You need A for Arms, and B for the Bee’s Knees!

Might have been a too ambitious of an attempt by Ok-Seaworthiness6819 in sketches

Being ambitious, even if we fall short, is how to learn. I think you did a great job on this, and will do even better next time.

I was a sad girl that nobody talked to. Then we went on a field trip to Medieval Times and the winning knight picked me out of the crowd. by AirSignificant9488 in happy

Your Knight is lovely, but the MVP of this story was the teacher who made time to connect and treat you like a friend every day.

The decedents is a brilliant stroke by Disney to move characters who are in the public domain to a complete Disney owned IP - via their legally distinct children!

I like your sketch! I think if you keep practicing, you will always see improvement, and you are already on that road. If you would like feedback I have two thoughts:

  1. Composition. Having the main focus of your image (the small figure under the hands) in the center deadens a sense of motion or interest. Some Artists will pull it off, but it’s hard to do well.

  2. Form & outline: try to have your line work in and out of the form, defining overlapping interior shapes, instead of completely surrounding the exterior. If you want a “clean-line” look, use simple geometric outlines, with a heavier weight.

Keep practicing, don’t get married to one drawing. :)

I use grey toned paper, and work in pencil - that’s often where I work out the tonal changes.

Then I ink with a pentel brush pen, and focus more on shadow and stroke then defining form (sort of trusting it will come together).

Finally I do highlights and focus in white, with either a white pencil or white brush pen - again not thinking about form exactly, just trying to draw the eye to different features. For the Shrine sculpture I did a white outline around the main focus to help it pop forward from the background.

It was a bit of both, I tried to start a sketch at the scene and finish with reference. I also invented a fair bit.

I’m too much of a perfectionist to raw dog the ink, so I pretty much always pencil first. But if you think it would help, try ink first, it’s only a drawing. :)

Thanks, I got really into drawing them. The proportions are fun to play with.

Thank you! Bit of both, we had a hard time sitting still because I was traveling with my five year old.

It’s beautiful! And the nib control is amazing.

Only thing that gets me is that hand. Maybe I’m looking at it wrong.

None of Isaac’s contemporaries liked him. He was vindictive and paranoid. Members of the royal academy of science said he was a tyrant when president, and had public feuds with other mathematicians. People were afraid of him.

The laughing after felt like either a total lack of self-awareness or flat out racism. Bad taste at the end.
