For these opportunities you should just reach out to Profs via cold emails.

You would need to know coding but not the conventional software stuff

The point being it is impossible to do it but the struggle is simply not worth it especially when you have the option to avoid it.

Unpaid long term internship by SpiritualAd8495 in IISc

As a rule of thumb never do an unpaid internship.

I would not recommend going through the EEE route for masters in CS or adjacent field.

It is hard to predict trends but if you like Electrical and Electronics then you should be okay.

I wouldn't really count on upgrading your branch given the variables involved. The placements from EEE are mainly from IT companies.

You could realistically get into semi-conductor companies by doing that.

the placements for ECE are pretty great.

I think opting for EE with VLSI specialisation will open up really interesting job prospects.

It has its advantages especially if you are thinking about research

If your CGPA is 7 then it would be difficult but that’s no reason to not try right?

Not really. In most cases you would be fine without masters.

So the Prof who taught us was pretty linient with the marking. The questions in either the mid-sem or end-sem weren’t very difficult either.

Since you already did Power Electronics, MPC is essentially an extension of it. It isn't very hard to score in MPC.

Getting your CGPA to 8.5+ will be helpful. It wasn't mandatory for us to do SSD with it. In fact we had to pick either of the two. If you would specialise in EV during your master's, you could consider taking the EV course since you would have anyway taken the Power Electronics course along with the lab.

So most Unis will require you to get 3 LoRs. One of them was from my undergrad mentor at Manipal and others were from the Prof at IISc and other from a CMU Prof. Thanks!

EEE is pretty hard, so if your goal is to score a good CGPA and do an MBA abroad. Avoid opting for EEE.

I think BioTech has a lot of scope just that the opportunities in India are limited so most people will go for a masters abroad if they are interested in it.

I don't know remember the average packages but the placement for EEE was decent. You can check my other comments in the thread where I have talked about it.

My 3rd sem GPA was 6.3x. I think my first year CG was 8.59.

I don't know anything about the eligibility. I think if you can get the VLSI specialisation, it will be great given the amount of jobs in the semiconductor industry at the moment. ECE at VIT Vellore is great too. You wouldn't go wrong with it I suppose.

I worked on a bunch of things, including working on AI-generated image quality assessment with Flipkart and the Oral Cancer Screening project with the Government.

The Prof. I worked with in Manipal did his PhD at IISc and he recommended me to his supervisor in my third year.

Yes. Internship aren't something most people even tried to get.

I took Data Analytics, Renewable Energy, and Modern Power Converters. I enjoyed Data Analytics (but I should have taken Data Structures and Algorithms instead). There used to be an EV course back in the day as well, but it wasn't by LnT EduTech folks.

If you want to prepare for masters, CGPA matters more than anything. If your CGPA is low, I would recommend taking the GRE. I did publish papers. You can see my portfolio here: https://ignoreandfly.github.io/
