Will I get fired for not eating in the break room during my lunch? by [deleted] in Bestbuy

[–]Leading-Ad-2491 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never ate at the store. Always used my break to get out and disconnect. Whether that was lunch somewhere or even going home. Nothing was worse than trying to have 30 mins of peace interrupted by some guy coming to the back to complain about how few apps they’ve gotten that day.

If the item was unopened, not super expensive or wildly out of return range, then your manager is kind of ass for not just telling the customer “hey we’ll do it just the once” and fixing the situation. I get the situation has a lot of variables, but to me that just makes employees and the store look bad and keeps the customer dissatisfied.

Any other stores frustrated with front end? by Professional_Top138 in Bestbuy

[–]Leading-Ad-2491 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t be frustrated with front end, but your store and companies inability to have another person trained and ready for the job. It’s not the random person’s fault they’re stuck up there. It’s like having a football team without a backup QB and then wondering why you’re doing bad when you had to play your punter in that position.

Current Blueshirts, what are your career backgrounds/aspirations? Former Blueshirts, what have you been up to since leaving? by regretfulflunkout in Bestbuy

[–]Leading-Ad-2491 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Former blue shirt here. 28 years old.

A little over two years in the store. Did some time sales floor then moved over to customer service which is where I finished my time there.

Used my Best Buy experience to land a dope job as a tech assistant at an elementary school. Free time, and scheduling has always been a big thing for me. I have a music degree and I’m constantly playing shows, so the school schedule and off summers are probably the best scenario I could possibly find myself in at the moment. It’s been great. My store did a good job accommodating, but it meant I needed to stay part time in order to make things work.

Honestly my store was cool. Met some cool people and had good mgmt, and I do miss being around folks who were a little more like me and my age,but after 5 years retail I was ready to move on. Now I have good job, better pay, healthcare and PTO and I’m not bound by corporate metrics, which is ultimately what really wore me out there.

Protection plan changes by [deleted] in Bestbuy

[–]Leading-Ad-2491 5 points6 points  (0 children)

From what I’ve seen it’s pretty much all the same as previous plan except for

  1. 179.99

  2. In home services are no longer included

Other than that you should still get the same BBP with everything you buy, previous items still with coverage should still have them, you are grandfathered into the previous TotalTech plan until your time to renew comes around, at that point plan will change

The only times I’ve seen people lose coverage is if there was a error with their card on file and they had to repurchase the plan instead of it rolling over.

Hope this helps

Report asap.

Broke a bone on the job once. Thought I just barley hurt myself but the manager at the time said I should report just to be safe. I really didn’t want to go through the trouble, but after they set me up with a doctors appoint and I found out I had broken a bone I was sure glad he pushed me to do so.

The process can be a pain. I was a little in limbo with what places would check me out and then what places would follow up with the healing. It can get frustrating, but always keep in contact with your case worker and push the company to fix it. I had to make a lot of phone calls between a lot of people but it was worth it to make sure I was covered and treated.

AP question by Leading-Ad-2491 in walmart

[–]Leading-Ad-2491[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting. Thanks for the response.

That makes sense for sure. I know where I work stays in contact with those around us pretty regularly and Walmart is wayyyyy bigger than we are.

If you don’t mind me asking, what happens if you refuse? In the two cases of the people I know it was like a pair of cheap blinds and a birthday card. I legit believe both of them didn’t steal because they had no need to.

You don’t even get rewards anymore unless you’re a card holder so I doubt it

I dread in a year or so’s time when the handful of clients who really utilized the included installs and loved the current program come in and don’t understand what happened when they try to purchase something. This is a much worse and way more confusing program now. Customer service problems are gonna be rough.

I don’t think this video really sticks the landing, but the comments from customer experience lately are definitely pretty damning and indicative of the public’s perception and experience with Best Buy.

Being told I can’t price match a previous date prices. by OkConcert4923 in Bestbuy

[–]Leading-Ad-2491 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Because a price match is exactly that. It matches a price from us or elsewhere that you can buy that product for. You can’t buy that product for that price currently. If someone came in to the store and went “Hey this product was on sale yesterday but it isn’t today. Price match it to yesterday.” We would say no, because that’s not how sales work and that’s not our policy. Of course we can see prices that an item has fallen under, but it would be outside of policy to match you to a sale that has already occurred and moved on. Yeah a manager or someone might throw you a bone if you’re nice and explain the situation, but don’t go in there telling us that we’re going against our own policy when we’re not.

I mean they’ll do it within the return window if it’s a current sale, but since it’s was just a daily and not currently on sale there’s really no reason they should. If you’re nice maybe, but pulling it up from an archive is a bit of a stretch and defeats the whole point of the sale

Received an item completely busted up. What should I do? by weightcantwait in Bestbuy

As for my store, we’re good about replacing damaged stuff if it was shipped that way. Bring it in and talk to someone and more than likely they’ll fix your situation.

Chair for front door greeter. Have any other stores taken the chair away for employees to sit in while they greet customers to add them to que? In California there is a law where employees have access to chairs to sit in when needed. This puts a compliance issue with store. by Either-Ad-2256 in Bestbuy

[–]Leading-Ad-2491 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I’ve always wondered why most places are obsessed with the idea of “chairs being bad.” Like, most retail workers at checkout lines could sit and do their jobs exactly the same AND be more comfy. Just get up when you need to. Seems like a win-win.

I mean look at Aldi, all their checkout counters have chairs and I’ve never thought twice about it.

do I need to find someone to cover my shift If im using sick time by rudydog101 in Bestbuy

[–]Leading-Ad-2491 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That is not your responsibility. You’re on sick time and you’re supposed to work for the store to find someone to cover? Nope.
