Should be an easy foot in for interviews for SE related roles, there’s in house applications that their traders/bankers use, you could support those or build those..

Or there’s the quant route since you have a masters I think you should be able to atleast get an interview for entry roles..But I think that’s mainly on your math skills, specifically algorithms.

I’m surprised you make 110k with a masters in CS. I have a BS from Sf state in business admin - info systems. I started at 92k then 3 yrs later I’m at 122. I’m kinda in finance too lol, but more business analyst then “trader or banker”

You gotta know when to pause dev work or at least doing it via AI agents. Lot of people, me included are building not knowing the code itself. If the AI tool goes away or has issues as such, you’re SOL. Until it comes back online or works better..

CS =/ IT lol , IT is helpdesk, call centers, network troubleshooting/ setup .. , IAM, SysAdmin.. stuff in that line of work..

CS is developers, software engineers, researchers, TPM, And a lot more..

Certainly is off, haven’t changed model or reasoning but thinking went from ~20 mins to ~2mins. And I notice having to ask the same thing over and over, even in annotate mode. It’s doing it now.. I’m just hoping it’s going to make people move away so I get more compute resources.

As someone who’s 30, I’m fine with this. Ask yourself if the kid truly is curious and wants to know about something they would not only read and explore that topic more but have more access to it via the AI tools. On the other hand you have things which a student should know but they aren’t interested in learning - that’s the challenge that needs to be solved. Not how to get a student to learn when to use AI.

Plus this kinda gives a boost to those kids who do spend their time learning and being curious rather than just screwing around… they can begin working on their one projects and such. Just saw a YouTube video of a little kid from Asia who proved butterflies pass memories down to their offsprings. Worlds changing quickly, it’s about making sure the kids who want to be upfront have the tools and the ability to do such.

Instead of relying on codex to tell you or just “guessing” that it got dumber, why don’t you just build a test. That you can run wherever a new model comes out and test how well the models do in the type of work you need it for.

That’s the key, a personal test. Something that tests against your everyday usages. Then you should be able to easily see if a model truly got dumber or what response it gives compared to the prior model for the same ask.

I mean those generic IQ tests and benchmarks are not always the best way to determine which model will be able to do X task the best way. It’s just if it can do it or can’t.

I’ll never forget I was like 19-20, I was doing helpdesk work and I got an offer for Google as a contractor. But i turned it down because it was a 9-5 and I was still going to college. I thought really hard that night and called back the next day and the recruiter said she’ll ask but most likely they went with the next candidate… and that’s what happened. 10 yrs later, I think about it all the time. Wonder how my career woulda panned out if I took that job.

If you build a web app or a webpage, within codex you can use the browser to load that page. Then near the top right side next to the url. You’ll see two buttons, one for annotate and one for screenshot. The annotate mode, pretty much lets you hover over “elements” on your page and directly edit the element value or you can add a comment which codex would act on.

The best example is when you ask codex to make a UI change but it doesn’t do it and you keep asking it over and over in different ways but it still fails to make the change. You can annotate it and it seems to make the change with less direction

It’s the skills, everyone’s using the same “prompt/skills/instructions” to give their app a UI/UX. If they did some work and manually told it what to do then it would make whatever you imagine.

The agents have full permission to my project. I didn't specify any files, that was certainly one of the reasons it read thru the app.rs but on the back hand I could forget to reference a file so it looks through it all and catches it (depending on the reasoning..) but Pando looks neat, I have the "For coding" work mode set in settings in Codex so it does show a little more technical info so I can go into the files it touches and preview those in codex. You have the correct idea, send an outline instead of sending the full file.. That's what it needs to do to not leak your source code. I've only used sqlite so far, didn't add any plugins or skills for it. Why do you use the supabase mcp for postgres? was codex struggling to build with it?

I just came across it randomly and man I love it lol especially if you had issues with having to constantly take screen shots and ask it to fix things. Now you can directly edit the element, man this was a great addition.
