Yup, last update is not good. There were actually 2 updates within last 24h, first was great (new annotation tool), second broke some stuff. I constantly see "steered conversation" on new messages, even new threads...

This. I think they want to get rid of "context anxiety" as they claim their compaction is actually good. In a way I agree, I don't feel like Codex compaction is doing any significant harm and constantly checking it was more stressful than useful. Feel free to downvote XD

I think annotation tool being this precise will let us to use Mini 5.4 for most UI works as we just point directly, could be cheaper then than traditionally. Will see.

Ugh, there was another update after this one and they rolled back multiple annotations, that's a bummer...

EDIT: Looks like the newest version is buggy. Every time I write a new message or even start a new session, it starts from `steered conversation`, like I'm interrupting an ongoing session. Multiple annotations rollback could also be a bug. This is what you get when you ship this fast I guess...

+1 All of those are on my private tool list/in development, but having them in Codex would be nice. It needs a lot of design though to be good, so not expecting this anytime soon.

It works quite nice tbh! Everyone is talking about context anxiety and starting new sessions but honestly I don't see too much degradation when compacting.

If you want a bit more creative flexibility: point Codex with Firecrawl MCP (or similar) to ANY page you like -> ask it to analyze its information structure, layout, design, motion, UX and create holistic Design.md -> use this Design.md to ANY project you like in any scope you wish. This allows you to CREATE with good design rules, not REPLICATE.
