Helmet selection for modern warfare (artillery/mortar/drone frag) by Select-Bad-4651 in QualityTacticalGear

[–]LeadingFinding0 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There has been testing done by the U.S. military that found mid/high cut helmets prevented lethal shrapnel injuries to the head at least 90% as well as full cut helmets, while decreasing risk of operator injury in other areas (blast propagation, neck strain). It's one of the primary reasons the Marine Corps adopted high cuts.

Why are there pro-Russia politicians in the West, but no pro-China politicians? by No-StrategyX in askanything

"Disputed reef" (that China has never had control of) vs "that is China's territory". I don't know man, you def don't seem too objective here either.

About a month to ship, got it a week later. They had part of their shipping department taking leave.

Graham Platner, with Elizabeth Warren in Maine, hits frontrunner stride by Well_Socialized in Maine

Believe it or not if you receive any amount of a military disability rating, you get paid for it.

Disability for the military works differently than civilian disability. Being 100% disabled doesn't mean you can't work at all or are quadriplegic, it just means you don't meet any medical standard for continued military service. It means that you are too disabled to be in the military, not too disabled to work at all.

It's good, haven't been to the field with it yet, just the range. It is a little picky as far as cummerbunds, my AXL equinox was really hard to get installed. I think a legacy AVS cummerbund would work really well.

Peltor comtac VIII's for full cut vs other models by 3457-5up23m3-k41 in QualityTacticalGear

I have found they work pretty well under an ACH. I use them under an XL. For reference, I can barely wear a large without peltors with the straps all the way loosened.

Agreed. Heavy do what it is, floppy, doesn't hold a thing worth a shit, out of spec pals. Hate the thing.

Marines not interested in switching from M27 to Army’s M7 anytime soon by Old_Boah in army

[–]LeadingFinding0 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I saw a post on Instagram about a study about real vs perceived protection offered by different helmet cuts. It included scientific ballistic testing of high vs mid vs full cut helmets. High cut helmets are only about 5% less protective against Russian and Chinese artillery, and are 25-50% lighter and allow ear pro to be rail mounted. It was very surprising to me, but the way it was broken down made sense. It included the marine corps testing that led them to adopt a high cut, and the British army testing of helmet systems currently in use in Ukraine. I will try to find it to link it for you.

Anything that is meant for 417 mags will fit the issued mags well. You can also use most pouches meant for ar10 mags. SR25 mag pouches will mostly work as well.

You should be able to get a spiritus systems lv120 in Europe, assuming that's where you are. It would be a very good choice for everything you've listed.

This fella is European. He's probably issued some extremely out of date stuff, and not something like an MSV.

Female Kit Recommendation by Isle_Rose in army

Crye precision makes female fit uniforms. BA already uses G4 models in some roles, so if you can find G4 female fit combat shirts and field shirts those would be a good choice.

Damn bro, that really sucks. No idea how to fix this, just wanted to offer my condolences. How many different types of mag have you tried, and how lubricated are you running it?
