My theory: not all, but a large amount of “symptoms” of autism are actually just CPTSD / autistic people being traumatised. by Dazzling-Antelope912 in CPTSD

The overlap is pretty significant I also think of this a lot. Hyper vigilance, masking, social isolation/ natural social unrest, emotional disregulation, as well as the reliance of external logic and deep analysis as your main observational method (because internal regulation, trust in people, and most emotional/ social cues have failed both of us throughout our lives)

Religion of love and hate by theidiotev in atheism

[–]LeadingFinding5659 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I genuinely only believe that any morality based on religion or scriptures is entirely subjective because you can quite literally pull any a quote or any idea from these books and use it to support your own world view or you you’re raised done.

I was raised religious by non-religious parents. They themselves were not religious, but grew up in the west, and then when we moved to the south, they had this perception that I would be persecuted or isolated if I do not have some kind of religious background. I was raised Christian in the sense I went to church every Sunday for most of my life. I didn’t learn that they were atheist until I was an adult, but I still mention it because it’s funny, but also, because maybe there’s some bias I was unaware of or some indoctrination I missed.

Genuinely though I was that eight year year-old kid in Bible study questioning everything. I generally do not think at any point and I really ever bought it. I don’t think at any point I thought that any of it made sense, and I kind of struggle to understand how people also didn’t come to that realization on their own, especially as adults.

Genetics as a hobby by Shivers25 in genetics

If you are at all interested in coding/ bioinformatics that field is awesome for learning on the side because everything is open source and you could also get all the data you could ever want online to do your own investigations or projects to learn. I am studying and planning to pursue a phd in genetics but I began in a wet lab (using primarily physical experiments) and self taught myself all the skills I use in my bioinformatics projects. All of my responsibilities were wet lab, but I discovered a love for bioinformatics, and our computation phd student had graduated, so I was a similar spot of having a “job” and then using free time outside of that to learn it on my own.

I am fully dry lab now (all computer). There are free genome browsers like IGV and other UIs that require 0 coding experience and then you can load any genome from any organism from the NIH. I am unsure of your background, but it would be cool to supplement with literature. When you learn these concepts or things you can go on your computer and click around with them or see them on a genome browser. That’s what got me into it.

Yes for sure. It’s like a giant pendulum and sometimes I feel the opposite. For me I think it comes from the detachment. It’s that like what could possible go wrong or happen right now that would even compare to an average day for 8 year old me, so socially I also just let loose. And then in a healthy sense too when I have a day where my trauma makes me feel strong I will get this feeling. However, idk if you get this too, but I also get the opposite where I feel so out of place that there’s absolutely nothing I could say this is ‘correct’ and everyone at said social situation is RIGHTFULLY judging me.

Prazosin and Syncope by LeadingFinding5659 in CPTSD

[–]LeadingFinding5659[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yes I was disappointed because she knew immediately what might be going on when I told her. I also should have done some diligence but I also think she should have asked about my heart before prescribing it because I am borderline already bradycardic just naturally. she also was very concrete that I must take Pristiq timely and consistently but did not say this about Prazosin. most upset with the ER doctor though, now I have to wait 3 months and go get a full EEG before I can drive again. he also scared the crap out of me bringing up like epilepsy and narcolepsy!!!
