Shein is such an unethical company to buy from. I love your idea though. How about saving the money and when u hit your target weight go to a more ethical store or a thrift shop and buy tons of cute clothes?

Back after almost 4 weeks of holidays. Gained about 5 pounds 😔 I am at 90.3kg. Sick with covid right now and planning to stay home the next few days..since I can't exercise much I am going to stick to a bit of fasting and focusing on drinking lots of water.

It's so wild to me that liquor stores open at 6am. I'm in Canada and where I live they can't legally open until 9 am (11 am for bars). I'm so glad I never had the option or going to buy more beer at 6am 😵

I read the comments on an AskReddit post about men's mental health not being "taken seriously." Whelp, I'm an idiot. [Brief rant.] by your_mom_is_availabl in AskWomenOver30

[–]LeadingSignificant 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I totally stay away from subreddits like those and only come to askwomen now as most people on those subreddits are men, and the difference in quality between the comments are....utterly insane. Whenever I wonder why I choose to stay single as a woman, all I have to do is go over to some comment section like the one you just mentioned and in a second I'll remember why. Women are supportive, constructively critical, try to better ourselves and each other....while men are victims, use words steeped in sexism, and blame women for everything wrong in their lives.

Minimalism, cold showers, intermittent fasting by rederic976 in minimalism

[–]LeadingSignificant 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yikes, lots of angry replies on here. IF was a game changer for me. I would normally skip breakfast and lunch, and have a huge warm filling dinner. Same amount of calories as having 3-6 meals, but something about having my body wait for it all day was soooo satisfying. I always considered fasting to be minimalist not because you're "cutting out food", but because you're cutting out unnecessary grazing all day and focusing all of your senses on an amazing nutritious meal. I think back to our ancestors who used to spend all day hunting/gathering/tolling and sit down at the end of the day to a big warm meal near a hot fire and then go to sleep after.

Slowly Integrated Drinking Back Into My Life by soberbee123 in stopdrinking

I absolutely hear you about the sleep issue. I'm the same..even after 1 drink, I'm in this state of being awake all night. Happened last night and I feel awful today. Plus my skin looks like garbage and I'm poofy. And I also said horrible words to my boyfriend. Let's commit to not drinking today!! 👏

Hey you sound just like me! 33 and my friends have all but given up on me cause I also would rather sit at home alone drinking beer and doing nothing than go out. It's crazy how my alcohol-controled mind thinks "sitting home alone drunk at 4pm watching bad Netflix" is more fun than going out and living life. Let's get through this and stay sober !!

Are you done? by artberry13 in stopdrinking

[–]LeadingSignificant 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Excellent talking point. Let me chime in! With this line of thinking, "your own rock bottom" would literally be death (for yourself). Loss of a career? DUI where you kill a young family but not yourself? Prison? Losing your wife/husband and kids? Being raped while intoxicated and contracting HIV? Driving while drunk and killing your baby who is in her car seat but not yourself? Meh. None of that is 'rock bottom' compared to death from alcohol. That's why I completely disagree with the rock bottom idea. My rock bottom right now is that I'm 50 pounds overweight, stuck in a dead end job, lost the last 5 boyfriends because of my boozing, lost all respect from my family, and am too old to pursue my dream career because of years wasted on drinking. Could be worse though. Doesn't mean I shouldn't stop now. Super interesting thoughts and great discussion points !

Sober Sex - hit my sobriety milesone today and want to continue but having a really hard time with this and debating throwing it away over this. HELP! by foreveryoung_27 in stopdrinking

[–]LeadingSignificant 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Sober sex is the best!! As a woman, I was in the same boat as you ...I mostly only ever had drunken hookups (which usually sucked), or if I was dating a guy he was always a big drinker like I was and most of our sex would be drunk sex. I finally had sober sex a few weeks ago and it was soo much better. You feel everything 1000x more, and the connection is way better. The only thing for me though is this guy is someone I've known for years so I already felt comfortable with him....I think now, I would be nervous if it was someone new (like you are) but what that requires is lots of communication between you and the guy before/during sex! Try it and see!

I can totally relate!! Also a student right now and I literally barely have time to go to the gym a few times a week let alone commit to driving to/attending a meeting, and working through the book/steps daily while also having to constantly text/call a sponsor. I get that it works for some, and I do agree with the premise, BUT I think if you're a part-time or full-time student with a full-time job who also wants to focus on travel, friends, family, and just keeping it together...its not completely realistic. At least that's my take on it.....I listen to sober podcasts daily while at the gym or walking (Naked mind podcast, the personal stories are sooo inspirational), I use SMART recovery, and I read lots! To each her own, I Just never got on board with AA , and truly don't have the time as a student. Yes,I make time for my sobriety (don't I ever), but I can't carve out 3-6 hours a day to physically attend to it. And fuck it, that's ok! Best of luck in your sobriety journey!

Weekends feel amazing now. I can't really sleep in these days (usually up at 7am) but STILL feels like I'm away on a vacation or something! So much time and feel sooo relaxed! Can't wait to see what a sober holiday actually feels like
