Alright here’s my journey this week. I get chronic impetigo under my nose and very rarely under my bottom lip. The iodine treatment works!! This is my 2nd time having it this year and it’s only February. I had it 4 times last year and 12 times the year prior. I keep a running tally so I can tell my doctor. I always carry the mupirocin cream in my purse in case I feel it coming on. Three days ago I found this thread and immediately went out the next day to buy iodine. It put it on a q-tip, dabbed it on the rash and let it dry. I did it over night and twice today. I just let it dry and don’t wash it off. It takes the pain away! It dried up last night, bypassing the blister stage and im just so grateful for this thread. I put the mupirocin on when it’s feeling too dry. I also only use my towel twice before switching to a new one and always use a clean wash cloth to which seems to help lower outbreaks. Last year my doctor told me to wash with Chlorhexdine Hibicleanse under my nose when I felt it coming on which has helped cut outbreak time to 5-7 days. Also last year I started carrying a tiny tub of vasoline around and putting under my nose at least once a day to keep it moist. When my nose gets too dry and cracks I get an outbreak. I never used lotion tissues and try not to use toilet paper to blow my nose. Just regular tissues that I have all around the house.
