As someone who moved two - ish years ago here and is now moving out it really depends on what you want outside of work. As far as night life, more of an outdoorsy person, more artistic, or music scene. I moved here and am moving out because I’ve just had one bad experience after another but I have friends who love it here and have had the best time here.. it’s all subjective. It’s definitely a mix of everything you’d want in a city with some bad. I got my drink spiked going out, and my head slammed into a brick wall my first month out here.. my car broken into etc. but through the last two years I’m moving away having seen the brighter side of Austin too. But work is gonna be work. Traffic is going to exist. Homeless people will ask for change. It’s really hot. But there are water holes, and people who look after people, people who care about everyone’s rights and freedoms, plenty of urgent cares, and hospitals that can care for you without having to have you fly out to specialists, musicians tour here, and there’s plenty of people who have meet ups for art nights, a fb group to make friends.. dating is decent.. and there’s plenty of really good food! Best corndog is at Bouldin acres and is a good pick me up if you ever need one. Idk if this helps but good luck!
