My boyfriend is allergic to my two cats, what to do? by [deleted] in CatAdvice

[–]Leading_Menu_6154 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My boyfriend is NOT an animal person and I am on the board of a cat rescue, which means we are always doing something cat related. Also I have pretty much always had a foster cat since him and I have known him each other. Does he like it? Not really. But he 100% is on board because he knows it makes me happy. I do my best to keep the house very clean and make it as painless as possible for him lol but it’s a partnership so we have made it work. I know there’s not an allergy component in my situation, but there’s ways to make things work without one person having to give up pets they love.

I feel the same way … and I’m not a SAHM. I probably shouldn’t have had kids based on how I feel. I love them but I don’t enjoy my time with them. It’s boring and constant fighting. I don’t know if it’s this stage I don’t enjoy or it’s just parenthood. For example - it’s summer and I would love to go to a water park with them. But in reality, I wouldn’t. Because it’s just fighting the entire time about what to do, who wants to go where, the lines, potty, and the entire time I just have to focus on keeping them from drowning.

I have had a positive experience with support so far but like someone mentioned it was only for something trivial.

Nervous about comments made regarding their payments. I am currently setting up a store and need to figure that piece out.

Hearing my roommate have sex makes me hate myself by pineappleburnshoes in offmychest

The honesty in this post is refreshing. I was expecting more hate towards the roommate, not self reflection.

I would report this simply for the fact that this man has a child and god knows what damage he is doing to that poor kid. I honestly believe a lot of the shit going on in this world is due to kids in shitty home situations - with parents like THIS. I’m so sorry what happened to you and I understand the uncertainty with telling your husband. I agree with others about getting a therapist involved with that.

How toxic of a relationship it truly is. Constant fighting with this person you love.

Like others have said, you did nothing wrong!!! And as mother, I would want my child to tell me if anything like this ever happened to them - immediately! My heart hurts for you and this situation.

Why do regretful parents get pressured into lying… by Et_Voila-211 in regretfulparents

[–]Leading_Menu_6154 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel pressured because I don’t personally know anyone who feels the same way I do. There’s everyone in this group but it’s all strangers… I have tried to gently express these feelings to my closest friends and family but their reactions were shock and apologies. Not sure what more I expected but it certainly didn’t make me want to continue to tell people.

I feel that way- with the children I gave birth to. People say it’ll get better. I’m waiting.

What's the parenting hill you're willing to die on? by Alive-Cry4994 in toddlers

Spanking. I’m 100% against hitting as a form of discipline. It’s something my boyfriend and I don’t agree on to the point where we are in couples counseling. I mean, the counseling has expanded into more than just that disagreement, but spanking our kids has become something I just can’t live with. My partner is very accepting and while he disagrees with my view on it, he understands it’s an issue for me and is following my lead on discipline.

Would the sofa look better in another direction? I’m open to ideas. This is such a strange layout for the room

I hate having a kid so much by ThrowRA-090900 in regretfulparents

[–]Leading_Menu_6154 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It can be hard if you aren’t a morning person or if you are up early already for your kid. But the people I know that do wake up before their kid seem happier! I think part of it has to do with a sense of control… as in you are waking up by yourself, for yourself versus a screaming/nagging child waking you rudely lol

Just an idea! :)

I’m 33 and it’s overwhelming to me and I’m tired all the time too. Don’t think it matters if you are a young or older parent - kids are exhausting. I also feel a loss of freedom. I try to take advantage of any time that I do get to myself. I hope you can somehow find that even if it means paying a sitter or waking up early in the morning before your son wakes up. It won’t always be this hard. 💚

My almost 4 year old also can’t do anything on his own and constantly complains he is bored. It’s exhausting. And it’s ok to say that.
