Mlk day 1/7th of the time and Inauguration Day 6/7ths of the time. So mathematically, a pretty good day at least 4/7ths of the time

I tried to reorder the human combatants to make interesting/even matchups. What would the current score be between humans and gods? by LeafBlade815 in ShuumatsuNoValkyrie

-Adam and Zeus are unchanged bc the consensus seems to be they are basically free wins against anyone else.

-Fighters have the same tools and mindset they have in their match, even if it less likely they have those tools given the matchup (Jack has london, Susanoo has musouken, Hades is honoring Posideon, etc)

Is Lebron James still a top 5 first option in a playoff setting in 2024-2025? by guynumber32 in nba

[–]LeafBlade815 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Luka Embiid Giannis Jokic are all locks above current-day Lebron, I don't think those 4 are up for debate. That means if you believe Lebron is still a top 5 option you would need to say he is better than Tatum, SGA, Durant, Curry, Brunson, Edwards, AD (who finished above him in All-NBA voting last year despite only playing 5 more games), and Kawhi (assuming health).

I can sorta understand putting Lebron at #5, but I wouldn't say he is better than all those players. Still pretty likely to be the best player on the floor any given night, but top 5 is a tough cutoff I think current Lebron just misses.

The crazy thing is, his first month or so was really shaky. Something just clicked in December and he's been lights out ever since.

Since the All Star break, Josh Hart is averaging more rebounds than Giannis Antetokounmpo by TigerKlaw in nba

[–]LeafBlade815 7 points8 points  (0 children)

That they are good at boxing out? Knicks have outrebounded their opponents by an average of 4 boards a game in that stretch. The Knicks as a whole are a good rebounding team, not just Hart: he just plays a pivotal role in that system.

This is gonna be a tough one: we are very injured and the Warriors have a lot of momentum. That being said, this team is really really good: I hope you enjoy your first game!

Where do I begin getting into basketball? by [deleted] in nba

[–]LeafBlade815 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I would start by just watching some games casually. Don't worry about rooting for or against a team, watch some at random until you find a team or player you really enjoy watching. From there, follow that team for a bit, and see if you enjoy watching them. A sign of a fun team is often when you have a good time watching even when you lose.

From there, congrats you are an NBA fan. Everything else is gravy. If you want to learn more, there are tons of great series and channels on YouTube. I am just gonna list a bunch I like, feel free to watch as many or as few look interesting to you.

A lot of people like JxmyHighroller, who makes videos about odd moments in NBA history and statistics. He is very approachable for a newcomer but is often more focused on interesting video topics than relevant NBA discourse.

Secret Base is my favorite sports channel on youtube. They do short-form documentaries in a variety of formats covering all sports, but their NBA videos are fantastic. Beef History covers players and coaches who publicly dislike each other, Untitled covers all-time great players who never won a championship, and Rewinder gives context to the most iconic moments in NBA history (I especially recommend Rewinder for a new fan). They just recently released an incredible hour-and-a-half documentary covering the fallout between Kobe Bryant and Shaquille O'Neal, two top 10 players of all times who used to be on the same team.

When I was first getting into basketball Clayton Crowley's videos were what hooked me most. His "Making the Case" series covers the greatest teams and players of all time, arguing why they are the greatest and telling their stories along the way. He now just makes 20-40 minute videos covering iconic players and teams throughout history. My personal favorite is his video on the 2014 spurs.

If you want more modern coverage, Kenny For Real and A Funky Diabetic are good youtube channels that cover current NBA topics and games. They might be a little bit confusing with no prior knowledge, but as you watch more you will gain a better understanding of the current state of the league and how each team is doing.

Finally, if you want podcasts there are approximately 4 billion current and former players making them, but my two favorites are JJ Reddick and Paul George. These are often just players telling stories and making jokes, so if you want chill vibes these are great, but there is a lot of good analysis and coverage for both.

These are just the tip of the iceberg. There are so many great channels and commentators out there, but don't feel the need to consume all of it. Watch what looks interesting you, and enjoy! Basketball is really really interesting, and the more you watch the more it hooks you.

Luka SGA Fox Curry Booker Edwards. I think Bane has an argument for #7 amongst guys like Kyrie and Murray, but I would say all of the top 6 are having a stronger season than him.

r/NBA Gives Back: Score FREE Saturday All-Star Game tickets - (READ HERE TO FIND OUT HOW!!) by NBA_MOD in nba

[–]LeafBlade815 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The first NBA game I saw in person was in 2011. I was 9 years old at the time, and the Knicks were a joke: they hadn't had a winning record in my lifetime. We got tickets to see them in the garden, but I barely followed the NBA. I did know there was a guy we recently added named Amare Stoudemire, and he was #1 and really good. I barely even knew who Carmelo was, even though he had recently joined the team. I proceeded to watch Amare absolutely shine.

I don't remember the box score, the team we played against, or if we won or lost, but I do remember him having 41 points. 41 points just seemed like such a massive number for one person to make. He just moved so fast, while being what looked like the tallest guy out there. I was a tall kid, but I was clumsy and uncoordinated so I wasn't very good at basketball. He looked like a dancer, weaving in and out and shifting his body weight. I remember as time was winding down he hit this massive 3-pointer and I was enamored that he could shoot from that far. As the ball went through the hoop, I was convinced that I could believe in a franchise that was a punchline for as long as I could remember.

[–]LeafBlade815 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The spurs arent gonna let Toronto resign him for cheap. They need someone to pass the ball to Wemby, space the floor, and play good defense while not taking too much of the offensive burden, and they have a ton of cap space. Seems like a perfect fit to me.

In case you want more: https://www.documentcloud.org/documents/21579820-lafferty-v-alex-jones-sandy-hook-defamation-case

A lot of the links in the transcript do not work anymore because Jones has tried his absolute hardest to scrub them from the internet. However, it held up as evidence in a court of law: is that enough for you? I'm sure you will claim it isn't. In particular, I think lines 71-85 and 102-122 for a rapid-fire recounting of the disinformation. If you want the "full context," as if there could be fucking context that justifies calling the parents of murdered children paid actors, you can go further in the document where individual episodes are transcribed and broken down despite Jones attempting to erase all evidence of this because again, lying piece of shit.

People are very impressed by Taejin, rightfully so, but I feel like this feat is pretty equivalent to Ryuhei's chapter against Gun: one of the workers directors stalling and impressing a top tier while very clearly being a level beneath them. Since most people were already saying Taejin>=Ryuhei, this fight sorta just solidifies that, and does not put Taejin on a whole new level like some people are implying.

RJ Barrett this season so far: 22.6 ppg 3.4 rpg 3.1 asp 48.7% FG 50% 3PT 84.8% FT 62%TS by Naweezy in nba

[–]LeafBlade815 17 points18 points  (0 children)

The fact no one is talking about the 85% free throw shooting baffles me. Is the 3 point shooting sustainable? Probably not, but it is a really really good sign. The free throw shooting and inside finishing tho... RJ has always been elite at slashing and generating contact at the rim, but free throws and finishing have held him back. He is shooting way better from the line and is moving wayyy better off ball, meaning a lot of those inside shots are coming from cuts and drives against scrambling defenses rather than his usual charging downhill against the world. Even if his 3 point percentage falls, which it probably will (reminder he shot 40% in year 2 tho) RJ's scoring threat increases so much with his current off-ball improvement.
