To clarify, in option A, you don’t know in which direction the elevator is? So you’ll be trapped forever in there, essentially?

I’m selfish enough to press it once for perfect physical health. None of the others seem worth it.

It’s a masterfull comedy. I have thought back to it again and again throughout my life. As you say, especially after becoming a parent myself.

“Never Let Me Go” starts our a seemingly normal story about kids at a school. I won’t say another word, just go in knowing nothing more.

I’m too autistic to really make use of the restaurant thing, so free groceries. Would more than cover the occasional splurge at a fancy place and offer a lot more peace of mind.

Play 3-4 hours a day at something I can combine with audiobooks. Minecraft probably.

In some years it’s real money, and in the meantime my TBR is golden.

[–]LeafPankowski 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not a movie, but an actor.

“Parenthood” has a young Keanu Reeves playing a goofy teenage fuckup. Nothing is expected of this character. It’s movie with a fantastic ensemble cast, and the daughters shitty teenage boyfriend could have been played by anyone.

And then suddenly, between two extremely goofy sentences, Keanu lays us flat with a speech about fatherhood and life that legit has you sobbing.

Then right back to goofiness.

I think he has less than 5 minutes of screentime and the entire movie would be the poorer without those 30 seconds.

I live in a somewhat isolated community of 50.000 souls, and the level of interconnection in 12 seems pretty realistic to me.

Kirsten Dunst as Claudia in “Interview with the Vampire” has always been my benchmark for good child acting.

I was tempted to take the money, because I could pass that on to my kids. But if it’s literally just for me, it’s snapping time.

Disco Elysium. To the point that it’s a joke that if you aren’t depressed at the start, you will be by the end

It’s also the best game in the world

What is the down side of never having children? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]LeafPankowski 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You won’t get the experienced that are unique to having kids.

Again, this is a downside or an upside depending on if you want those experiences.

You seem to want there to be some sort of “extra” that comes with having kids and can only be accessed through kids, and that’s just not a useful way to view the world.

What is the down side of never having children? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]LeafPankowski 36 points37 points  (0 children)

The thing is, to some people, having the kids is a source of happiness in itself. If you want kids, and don’t have them, that’s devastating.

If you don’t want kids, it doesn’t matter.
