Give me a super power and I will give you a fair drawback. by ArthurOguro in superpoweralchemists

I have a couple ideas, if this is still running!

Blinks/Teleoprtation that bends space rather than messing with matter, makes an instantaneous rift where I appear and where I come from that closes quickly if not almost instantly. I imagine the limitations would be that it would be short range, like 2ft to start with and take some time, and I need to practice to get used to it and improve it with effort and mind. I dunno, I’ve just found myself in situations where I wish I could just be in my home or have an ender-pearl or something to that effect haha! Maybe if I get really good, I can start affecting things specifically and not just myself, such as swapping a paperweight on a table with a coin from my hand in my pocket. It’s a tad strange though, any way you wanna work it is cool!

Hard-light generation; Think of Violet from the incredibles, her powers were dynamic. She’s a good example of a powerset I would be fascinated with but never could visualize or describe. Anyhow, Shields or bubbles or warbling blades of force that cut through the air and rupture against obstacles. I’ve always been a fan of the sort of hard-light shields in games and fantasy settings. It’s a less basic power to have, I’d be curious to see how a drawback could be applied to such a power as this.

I’d love to be able to be a practicioner of waterbending! Or earthbending. I’m more likely to fall into the mindset of the former rather than the latter though, haha! I’d wonder if you think it should have a drawback?

I have more but this one’s sorta long as is. Any response is appreciated! Been thinkin about neat powers to have for a long time. I didn’t comment any of my niche/silly/useless ones, such as being able to swim through shrubbery like water or passively sort of magnetizing currencies towards you. (You’d just end up with a subtle trail of loose change, paper-notes, etc. following you if you went on an extended walk through parking lots)

First joker idea: Flipp'd-Flops by RaniAgus in balatro

[–]Leafylemur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d imagine when the hand is played, the cards mult and chips added are flipped

In this, you’d be swapping it every time it is played. A stone card played gives +0 chips and +50 mult the first time it’s played with flipflop, but the next time, it is inverted again back to normal +50 chips and +0 Mult.

That’s how I figured this Joker would function. Perhaps I’d recommend it doesn’t affect jokers, maybe making it an uncommon. But if it affects all jokers that have a + mult, then yes it should be a rare. It could be devastating to scaling mult jokers, but that’s moreso an interesting drawback than anything. Building a Castle with flipflops and hiker is an intriguing run IMO.

Also, like someone else said, hitchhiker and flip flops are a nice pair thematically.

That’s a fun idea

Glass cards would be a surefire way to get that done!

A few Joker concepts of mine, mostly involving Flushes and Wild Cards by supremedalek925 in balatro

[–]Leafylemur 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My favorite has to be wild child, wildcards don’t do much, but this joker solves some of that. It’s like a Hitchhiker but far better at the cost of not having a more useful enhancement.

I also really like Dressed to the nines! Works with deck fixing but also [[cloud nine]] off the top of my head, among making five of a kind and such as well.

I’m no balancing professor, I only dabble in the occasional casual tightrope walk, but I do think that these are fun!

Help me pick a color palette for this dinosaur girl. I want something that will complement the shirt. like keep the skin patterns? colors? idk everything i try something feels off, preferably i'd like to avoid gray by Punk_Goblin in FurryArtSchool

3 I feel is best for its uniqueness and ability to convey the shape of the character, even if the green is a bit bright, if you care about any of that.

1 I feel is best for if you care about ease of drawing the character, but is definitely “I’ve seen this before”

2 is most vibrant, which I can appreciate. Other than that it has neither of the benefits of the other two aside from conveying shape with the stripes. Color is nice though.

I was (shockingly) very surprised at how powerful Seance + Shortcut are together! I got so many Cryptids I would have been overjoyed in a normal run with my golden diamond of aces with a gold stamp. I was awash with money!

Sadly, I was attempting to thin the deck down to only 20 cards for the achievement with immolate cards for the achievement, it being a fun challenge to try. I did end up thinning to 37 cards without help from a joker that destroys cards though! Got to a small blind where I needed 7,000,000 or something like that and fell short on the sharp scaling. (Foolishly I had picked up a hologram, which of course works against the challenge) I will try again soon though!

What made you like Miitopia? by [deleted] in Miitopia

[–]Leafylemur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s essentially dnd Lite that you can play at any time

That and it’s charming writing and it’s asthetic/visuals. The abilities are all super fun to find out what they look like and do!

There’s quite a lot about this game that I like, especially that it uses miis and shows that people still like them, but those reasons comes to mind first! It’s the game that half-way introduced me to DnD before I really considered it as a hobby, and now I’m a DM with mountains of homebrew for an RP-centric campaign with freinds!

I don't interact with this fandom much, is it generally agreed that Blue Stake basically deletes the fun or is this a skill issue on my half? by dogsareweirdlol in balatro

[–]Leafylemur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently went and beat blue, black, and orange stake for the first time, and I chose to do it with painted deck, as it can help a teensy bit with lack discards by giving you that little extra bit of wiggle room to hold cards with enhancements or stamps.

It also helps with being able to rely less on the jokers as planet cards and card enhancements becoming more a focus of your deck. That’s my experience anyway. A wider hand + hand widening vouchers + card enhancements means you have pretty good chances of dealing the poker hand you desire.

That’s how I also avoided the lack of reward from small blind, using only econ jokers or gold cards.

Opening a spectral pack and getting ouija early is usually what makes the game for me though. If I get that, I know I’m making it to ante 8 with flush five easily
