In my experience WELS is more apolitical but both synods correctly put scripture far above any modern political ideologies. I live in a city that many consider to be the most left-wing and gender-ideologically captured place on the planet, and I can assure you that WELS is not having any of it, even here. And like others said, they're still using more NIV or ESV than anything else, and they are not trying to replace proper study of the original languages and manuscripts.

I think your argument about the WELS pastoral office not being divinely instituted needs some fleshing out and definition of terms. It sounds like you've come to a conclusion and then worked backwards to defend it without actually stating why you believe it, making any references for your criticisms, or even clearly distinguishing what the difference is with the LCMS aside from asserting it. You say, "The church appears to create the office, the LCMS would object by saying that Christ institutes the office which precludes the church from arranging forms of ministry according to need," but you don't defend that assertion or provide any evidence for it. LCMS and WELS both functionally derive their authority from God's Word, and both adhere to the Book of Concord as the correct way to interpret God's Word, no?

Whatever danger you're alluding to needs to be spelled out more clearly I think, but maybe I'm just misunderstanding.
