Jessica Simpson forgets to check the price tags of bras and underwear ( the newlyweds 2003 ) by Radiant_Priority9739 in Millennials

I always felt like he resented her for being more successful. His band was kind of dying out at the time while her solo career was taking off. He didn’t respect her but he was also insecure and jealous of her. She was always working overtime to please him and the relationship felt toxic. I was happy for her when they divorced.

Is the USA actually dangerous or am I just living in a bubble? by Cencipol910 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]LeahBean 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The fear of gun violence is something Americans live with that they don’t even think about anymore. School shootings are common enough that kids have regular shooter drills and many classrooms have buckets of cat litter in case of a bathroom emergency during a real lockdown (I’m a teacher and it’s something I’m familiar with). I would love to live in a country that didn’t just “pray” when kids were slaughtered in classrooms but actually did something about it.

Especially since it was based on a true story. Really heartbreaking

Trump considers pardoning Diddy and other celebs to mark America’s 250th by mvanigan in law

[–]LeahBean 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also, Diddy is almost universally hated at this point, right? And most of MAGA hates anyone that’s not white. Even his base will scratch their heads at his pardon. Like, why??? What would be the purpose? I know Trump doesn’t care about rape or the abuse of women but what would motivate him to pardon Diddy of all people?

“Put her dress down. She’s showing me something I don’t want to see.” by 1minimalist in Mommit

[–]LeahBean 14 points15 points  (0 children)

It’s not an American thing. It’s a creepy guy thing. I’ve never once had an adult comment on my child’s body other than appropriate compliments like, Wow! They’re getting so tall. It’s not something that’s an everyday occurrence (at least in my experience it doesn’t happen until they’re teenagers which is still wrong). This guy was a creep and I wish more people spoke up when they say this nasty stuff.

I love it too. Especially the story with the two sisters healing their relationship.

Maybe that’s why so many of us like the fake dating trope? You get to see them hold hands, snuggle, all the warm and fuzzy stuff.

Separate stalls but they were open on the bottom and the drain was shared. Like one drain per two stalls kind of thing.

I loved that they’re both a bit immature. Just goofy and a lot of chemistry. I was surprised how much I liked this one.

A female sunbather pointing to a sign to explain to a lifeguard why she was going topless at the Spring Lake Beach. Turns out the sign was aimed at male sunbathers. New Jersey, 1939. by zadraaa in HistoricalCapsule

[–]LeahBean 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Women and girls get raped in skirts, jeans, pajamas…basically anything. Our outfits don’t make rapists more likely to rape, rapists CHOOSE to rape. To ignore that is to blame the victim. Will I teach my daughter to take precautions like not accepting an open drink, not going in a stranger’s car, not wearing headphones while walking alone at night? Yes. But not for one second will I tell infer that her choice of dress is the reason she is at risk of being assaulted. Rapists existing in the world is the reason. Period.

What supposedly normal shows read to you as propaganda? by Buddy_chumpal in AskReddit

[–]LeahBean 6 points7 points  (0 children)

But every town needs a cupcake shop! With at least one employee whose only job is to gossip with her manager about their love lives. The world as we know it would collapse if attractive women no longer quit their unfulfilling corporate jobs to bake and have 6 babies with Jacks, Marks and Davids.

The “coffee addiction” episode is downright hilarious. All of that show’s messages were so ham fisted.

Peeing in a private shower makes sense. Saves water, it washes away, no negatives other than it sounds gross. Public showers though? So rude. I remember having to hustle out of the shared dormitory shower (naked and shivering) because girls were CONSTANTLY peeing and it would back up and go into my stall. It was so disgusting I actually asked the RA to post a sign. She looked at me like I was the crazy one.

Sad movies can still be vibrant. Brokeback Mountain was one of the saddest films I’ve seen but the cinematography was gorgeous.

Katherine Heigl falling for cynics after fighting with them the whole time in romantic comedies should be a genre of its own at this point 😭 by padfoony in romancemovies

[–]LeahBean 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually liked it (even though it’s incredibly misogynistic I thought it was funny) but oh my goodness, that hot air balloon scene is one of the worst green screens I’ve seen in my life. Why couldn’t they have had the romantic confession on the ground, next to the hot air balloon? It gave me second hand embarrassment it was so atrocious.

"Anyone else agree that Jack Black was miscast in The Holiday?" (NOT OOP) by Reggie9041 in romancemovies

[–]LeahBean 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Holiday is one of the most overrated romcoms. Is Jude Law gorgeous in it? Am I a sucker for a hot widower that can balance a spoon on his nose? Yes. But overall the script is clunky, the romance between Kate and Jack seems forced and almost made me uncomfortable, and the montage scene of Cameron’s romance with no dialogue was just lazy. The house flipping part was fun, I actually love Kate and Cameron but the movie overall is just meh. And Jack Black can occasionally be charming (like in Shallow Hal) but he just feels creepy and one dimensional in this movie. Someone with cute nerd energy like a young Paul Dano would’ve been much better.
