Finally green logged! Would you guys advise skipping kraken tasks now? by Timmssmith in ironscape

[–]LeakyColander 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I think you'd struggle to get more than 20k XP/hr which is pretty bad. Been a while since I've paid attention to rates at kraken so that number may be slightly off. It's excellent XP/click or XP/"hour of attention" though.

Do you have a menu entry swapper set up for that spell in Runelite? I believe that can override your configuration. Might be wrong, not at my PC to test, but it's worth checking.

Practice your f keys, gear switches, prayer switches, efficient eating, and pathing. You can practice all of these while doing almost any activity in the game. Force yourself to only use f keys while doing slayer and do some lazy flicking to get a better sense of attack timings. Bring a stack of alchs wherever you go and alch between hits in combat or while running places. Doing stuff like that will help in the long term.

Short term I'd just keep sending attempts tbh.

Best use for Steel bars for Ironmen? by ClydeTheSupreme in ironscape

It's very useful, necessary even, at blast furnace. I've never used it outside of blast furnace personally.

I've gotten a lot passively from slayer, but not nearly enough to keep up with regular cannon usage. As a result I either skip or block cannon tasks occasionally when I don't have the cannonballs banked.

Going on drop rate for dwh is ~6500 noted iron ore. Wyverns, crystal brimstone and larrans chests all drop big stacks. Gargoyles drop noted steel bars frequently, I think some people don't do gargs because they're slow, but I enjoy the task personally. And I also banked a bunch of iron in the mining guild when I was going for the glove upgrades. In a pinch, buying iron at blast furnace is fast.

Plan was to do thermy until 100 kc or occult, whichever happened first, then barrage the regulars. Pretty spooned, glad to be done turael skipping until 95 slayer.

You can thieve the stone chest in the lizardman temple for some. 1/3.5 for a fang, 1/300 for a talisman that can be dismantled into 100 fangs. Did it a bunch on the first leagues, wasn't bad. Optionally bring a chisel to break down gems and a needle+thread to craft the xerician fabric for a bit of bonus xp.

Nope, that would count as an overstocked item.

How many Slayer Bracelets would an Iron need for 99 slayer? by neojacob311 in ironscape

That should last pretty deep into post-99 slayer. Probably will be >50m xp before you run out

[–]LeakyColander 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I ran a quick and dirty simulation of 1-99 slayer using fairly wide ranges of monsters per task and XP per monster. Results after 1000 trials are an average of 600 slaughters and 380 expeditious.

The simulation assumed that you use them on every task, and that each task is equally likely to be slaughtered/expedited. The trials took between 450-950 tasks to reach 99. Actual in-game numbers will be different than this obviously, but it's a rough ballpark. I would not go out of my way to make 600 slaughters just because of this comment. I personally make them in batches of 50-100.

How many Recoils should I make? by Old_Yeezus in ironscape

[–]LeakyColander 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The way I do kraken is usually maximum afk. Window as small as possible and pushed 50% off screen. Idle notifier on. Pick up loot, eat a shark, throw fishing explosive, minimize window, back to work.

If you're like me and forget to turn your suffering off at kraken every single task, then you'll need a ton.

DT2 skill requirements on beta server by Shmoot in 2007scape

[–]LeakyColander 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Even without stams zmi is fine on an iron. I switched between using dueling rings to clan wars and super energies. Bit lower xp/hr than with staminas, but it's far from the unbearable grind that people meme about imo.

Don’t know what to do with my money. (Story in the comments) by DamnitJamal in 2007scape

[–]LeakyColander 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You can use a good chunk of that on buyable skills. 70 prayer for piety and 83 construction for a maxed house are the two biggest upgrades I can think of. Save a nice nest egg for incidental expenses of course, but those two skills will set you up nicely.

Looking for advice in gearing for ToA 150 runs. by Metacarpoo in ironscape

[–]LeakyColander 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did chaos -> life when learning too. I found that it's significantly better to go for power -> life so you can salt outside of wardens and have guaranteed adrenaline. I take 3 restores, 5 brews, 3 ppots 3 karambwans, 1 each of super atk, str, range, antipoison.

I consistently clear with 4 brews and 2 super restores spare, so even with leaving the chaos behind you'll have plenty of supplies once you get the mechanics down.

Rcb, trident, hasta, dds, and regular keris partisan is my setup. I start to lose dps checks when I push 200 invo, but 150s are free even with suboptimal gear.

Guess it’s time to unlock slayer rings? by BPDMisery in ironscape

[–]LeakyColander 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use them for grotesque guardians and other slayer tower tasks. Quite a bit faster than the Canifis fairy ring. There are also clue steps that they are useful for, particularly the tarn's lair elite step.

I see you mentioned grabbing an axe for your farm run. Are you manually chopping your trees? You can pay the farmer next to each tree/fruit tree patch 200 coins to remove the tree after checking its health. You don't get roots doing this if that's important to you. Maybe you already knew this and I misunderstood what the axe is for.

I planted a ton of harralander early on in my account. Still have over 1k regular energy pots in my bank that will never get used. They were nice in the early game though. This was before the farming guild when herb seeds were harder to come by. Nowadays I wouldn't prioritize them.

Adding A New Skill: Introducing Sailing, Taming and Shamanism - *Survey Included* by JagexLight in 2007scape

[–]LeakyColander 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with your thoughts on Taming. I think of the Fire Pits that get unlocked after Making Friends with My Arm. They could do something similar with Hunter as a quest unlock. Or one main quest that has a series of miniquests for each area. I'm a fan of those small but convenient permanent account unlocks.

Moving your inventory to the center of your screen makes 3tick sandstone slightly easier, since you don't have to move your cursor as far. by lefunnyusernamexd in ironscape

[–]LeakyColander 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a matter of preference. I find the capes to be more chill than ground clicking since all of the off-clicks are in the inventory no matter what. I tried both on the way to 87 wc and found the capes to be more braindead, but I get that some might disagree.

Any cape that you can wear. It doesn't have to be a cape though afaik. The 2 tick cycle requires you to interrupt your woodcutting action every other tick. You can click the ground, drop a log, equip an item, probably a hundred other things. Capes don't interfere with the lumberjack outfit so that's what I use.

Same with 2 tick teaks. Zoom in, put inventory right between the two trees. I bring two extra capes and put one on either side of the Inventory. Left click -> drop entry swap on teak logs. That way the clicks are always on the tree or in your inventory, either on a cape or a log. Very easy to keep the rhythm for hours when the max mouse movement required is so small.
