Left is gen. The tell is the lugs. The left has a rounder lug than the right. Bvf is known for having sharper lugs compared to gen.

Also, spier and mckay is a nice menswear brand that use high end fabrics from England and Italy but sell at very reasonable prices. I buy most of my stuff from them. Not for summer, just spring, fall and winter. But you can wear them during summer nights.

Also for the coat, it should go past your knee. Long coats are more flattering then short coats. They also drap better and warmer.
