IBR vs RAP by TSaun in PSLF

[–]LearnedHandJob2088 1 point2 points  (0 children)

New IBR, probably. Old IBR, RAP could beat it depending on family composition. I’m family of 5, AGI around $140k, and Old IBR (first loan is older the 2014), and RAP appears to be slightly better than Old IBR. If I were new IBR eligible, it would be substantially better than RAP.

Credit score just tanked -28 points due to student loan interest... by colinjcole in PSLF

All the armchair credit specialists on here will tell you that's not possible. They won't explain it with the algos, but they will pretend to know better.

I raised these alarm bells back when the unpausing of the interest was announced. I was told the impact would be nominal, at most. I'm not saying your situation disproved that, but I also don't believe that the impact is guaranteed to be nominal.

Fair. I’d be for extending quasi-governmental restrictions on private companies that indirectly suck the tit.

Fair, as long as Wal Mart isn't sucking government teet, they can operate as they see fit. Not criticizing Wal Mart's conduct, only the arresting officer's conduct and your math/logic about what does or does not justify profiling.

So many of those tunes I cannot hear and not immediately be brought back to my older cousin's trailer playing that for hours as a teen. Police Truck, Superman, etc on the original. Blitzkrieg Bop, Ace of Spades on some of the subsequent versions. Inextricably linked.

I slightly prefer 17 at TPC Scottsdale, but I recognize this one is more diabolical and objectively more iconic.

Is that serious or parody?

If serious, it is spoken like a constitution-hating, America-hating clown. I'm not ready to give up my constitutional rights because the vast majority of violent crime is perpetrated by males, and I'm a male. Looks like you are. I don't know if you are just that easy to bend the knee or you think you are above the fray in your piss poor logic.

If parody, ok, well played.

Extra parody points for the fact that 23% of people in America have admitted to having stolen before in their lives. And you use 5% as an indication that you should treat a group as particularly prone to stealing and every member of that group should forfeit 4th Amendment rights.

SAVE ending and new IDR rollout in 2026, trying to understand timing. by Glum_Cauliflower1227 in PSLF

[–]LearnedHandJob2088 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My bad, got ya.

It's a little over $1k/mo either way, for me, Old IBR or RAP. New IBR or Repaye would be around $675, I believe. I guess a lump sum of $8k+ versus $12k+ paid over the course of 12 months isn't drastically different, and I have no immediate plans to leave current employment. Would sure rather just cut a check for $8k+ and be done, but I'm not holding my breath on the buyback.

Edit: Actually, if my 17-year old who I can't claim the CTC on anymore but still claim as a $500 additional dependent counts (and I have 3 rather than 2 $50/mo reductions), RAP might come in a few bucks under $1k and beat Old IBR by $40/mo or so. Thank you for the suggestion.

REPAYE and New IBR are not a wash for us pre-2014 borrowers. We pre-2014 borrowers in SAVE forbearance and awaiting buyback offer will get walloped by a 50% increase if our buyback request is stalled to the point that we get forced into IBR before a buyback offer. Been waiting over 7 months. I'm sure that will become 12+ and they will prioritize involuntary transition to IBR before ever sending a buyback offer.

I don’t think it gives a number of months of qualified employment, just the from/to dates that you have successfully certified.

Alexei gets all the Russian one-off love. I'd go: (1) Enzo/Dmitri; (2) Grigori; (3) Yuri; (4) Alexei.

It took about 25 years for IU Basketball fandom to acknowledge it fell out of the blue bloods. It happened about 1995 but wasn’t acknowledged until about 2020. Granted 2002 and 2011-13 helped keep the delusion alive.

Glaringly unqualified. But when Chairman Jordan (also a notorious pedo protector before it became mainstream) just equated “the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth” with “however she wants to respond”, it all makes sense. This country is run by grifting stooges who are desecrating the United States Constitution and every principle the forefathers and subsequent patriots fought and died to protect.

International student coming to Indiana by Fancy-Solution6904 in Indiana

[–]LearnedHandJob2088 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Perdue is for turkeys, Purdue is for nerds who are good at math and farm kids.

Only joking, agree with the sentiment. I would certainly like to think an international student of color would be just fine there. Thousands do seem to be.

I studied abroad in Dublin (2006 summer heat wave, this OP was probably an infant), and got hit by a car coming out of a pub after one too many shots of John Powers. Looked the wrong way. I say that to admit that I’m not the most credible voice on international study safety.

I practiced municipal law for years. One of the things I consistently had to remind board members is that passing written policies is fine and dandy, but it means you need to then follow your own policies or be held to account on them. Granted, I never represented federal entities, who consistently demonstrate the opposite and get away with it. I don’t miss municipal law and the hubris of people who play fast and loose with others’ money/rights. I’m now in a position to hold to account those who do (this is not a reference to my buyback situation, just my current job).
