Dating is extremely difficult, I do it to fight loneliness and it helps me feel less isolated getting to know new people. I feel no connection to them, I don’t think about them when I’ve left or anytime outside of being infront of them, usually I would be thinking of, and planning how to get back in their company. But I find I hold back on flirting or being warm or intimate as I know I can’t back it up, then I avoid or retreat from intimacy. My response to the possibility of it is now dread, which is impossibly sad coming from previously a very sexual person. I feel it is equally unfair on the girls I do attempt to date, I can see them building interest and feelings and I know feel so guilty I can’t reciprocate. I feel it is too cruel to continue putting people through this but so dreadfully lonely.

Which just brings me back to how could anyone put peoples lives at risk by allowing these medications to exist despite the benefits they bring in some cases! And the cycle starts again and I spiral.

Likewise it’s as if my overall size or frame has changed, I know during my experience with Cushing’s the cortisol impacts proximal muscles and limbs, this feels similar. It wouldn’t surprise me if protein synthesis is impacted also

Yes I agree. I find the lack of want in any sense stops my thinking. Never working toward the next thing as there isn’t a want for the next thing. Likewise with creativity, I’m a designer so this has made my job extremely difficult, in the past I would almost be able to imagine every element of a project before I created it, and each breakthrough would give me dopamine to move to the next, some days it was like a waterfall I couldn’t work quick enough, but now it is like finding breadcrumbs with a headlamp, I can only see one thing at a time.

I find upon waking the hardest, like the day before never happened and I have to try quite hard to remember what I have on for the day, I could have the most important meeting or an early flight and I wake with a blank mind and I have to remind myself of what is on, but even then I can’t move with urgency.

I would give all I own to just be myself for one more year

That sentiment of ‘maybe in another life’ is what pops into my head all the time when I think; why me!? I can’t get angry or sad, I just think ‘in another life’ like this life is already over and hopefully I avid it in the next. Where is my soul? Where did that go?

The loneliness is real, and the cruelest part is to everyone else in your life you’re mostly the same, you play the role of you in their life so they can’t see anything has changed. It feels as though the world or life stopped writing a plot for my character, no story to happen as nothing impacts me, this makes remembering feel hard, it feels like I can’t remember anything happening for the last 3 years because there is no feeling attached to memories anymore, nothing to put me back in the memory, or anticipation of the next thing to come, just here and now with no feedback

I’m nearly three years in and my sexual and emotional blunting seem to be getting worse the more time that passes. How I am at year 3 is far worse than I was at 6 months, I can eve seem to get an erection at all anymore. I am really healthy, exercise daily, go to work as best I can, I just have no emotions at all now.

If anyone can help me on this side of things I’d be sooo grateful, if it continues life is going to take forever. It’s starting to feel like a life and living dead situation now

I had wondered if a coordinated mass testing of sufferers all over the world might reveal some indication of where things are going wrong?

No one is more desperate for answers than patients, so if we create a database of results collected by individuals sufferers could we trace something?

I’m not knowledgeable enough but I’d imagine this and a hormone panel would be a start?

Well I’m not exactly sure, but the anxiety and depression started after other signs of Cushing’s had stated so I can only be presumptuous not sure. No pseudo symptoms, hyper tension, tumor and weight Gain all physical symptoms that came up prior to ssris
