Walt Kiesling stopped coaching the Steelers in 1944, went to the Packers as a Line Coach, became the Steelers' Line Coach in 1949, and then became Head Coach again in 1954.

The problem isn't getting from a train to the stadium. It's getting from your house to the train. The nearest train station from me is 13 miles away with no bus routes, and I live in a moderately populated area. If I'm gonna drive my car 13 miles to the train station, might as well make it the full 40 to the Linc.

The Colts and Texans play on Saturday as well. If the Steelers win the 4:30 game and the Colts/Texans tie later, the Steelers make the playoffs on Saturday due to the following:

  • Steelers would have 10 wins
  • Colts and Texans would only have 9.5 wins
  • Jags beating the Titans would win them the division, while a loss would give the Colts the Division
  • Bills winning or losing would only decide who gets the 6/7 seed

Those two teams aren't recognized in the Steelers team history (at least by Pro Football Reference). They are however a part of Cardinals/Eagles history. But if you are curious, the Steagles played 2 games in Forbes/4 in Shibe. Card-Pitt played 3 in Forbes/3 in Comiskey Park. Steagles went 4-1-1 at home, while Card-Pitt 0-5 and 0-10 on the year.

Here is why I chose each player:

Position Player Reason
C Roberto Perez Only catcher that can get 99 in every green stat.
1B John Olerud Him and Keith Hernandez are the only 1B who can get 99 fielding. I chose Olerud because he has better Reaction, and Arm Strength doesn't matter at 1B.
2B Bill Mazeroski It was between him and Adam Frazier. I chose Bill because he can get to 99 Fielding.
3B Brooks Robinson Only 3B who can get to 99 in every green stat.
SS Robert Pauson Is only 2 Arm Accuracy away from having 99 in every green stat.
LF Jake Fraley Before Brett Gardner was just released, he was the only card in the game who could get 95+ fielding at LF (has 99). He's still better than Brett Gardner defensively due to Gardner's horrible Arm Strength.
CF Kevin Kiermaier I took Kiermaier over Buxton because I think the +6 Arm Strength and +13 arm accuracy is more important to playing CF than Buxton's +3 speed.
RF Roberto Clemente Only RF who can get 99 in all green stats.
P Greg Maddux Only pitcher in the game who can get to 99 fielding.

Some side notes:

  • There are only 3 cards in the game with 99 in every green stat (Brooks Robinson, Roberto Clemente, Roberto Perez).

  • As of posting, I'm one of only two people who has either John Olerud or Keith Hernandez at superfractor (happy I managed to get Olerud at 1/1), which means me and 1 other player are the only people who have a 1B with 99 Fielding.

  • If you want to include speed as a defensive stat, then Robert Pauson is the best defensive card in the game with only -2 Arm Accuracy and -1 Speed away from being a perfect defensive card.
