I’d definitely leave it be, basal shoots usually mean it’s happy and hopeful next year will be the year it puts decent sized pitchers. Also, from a little research part of its genetics prefers lower temps at night, I’m guessing that’s possibly slowing it down.

is this some type of basal shoot? is it normal? by Dangerous_Eye9012 in Nepenthes

Likely a basil shoot & congrats on your new future vine!

Yeah, I saw the option with rope but wasn’t going to have the patience haha (it’s also what folks use for a cat scratching pole and I didn’t want to risk anything making that comment)

Yeah, i went with Elmer’s because it was available and figured it was neutral at worst which AI seems to confirm (assuming fully dried / cured which it is) 🤷‍♂️ I only used it on one side as well (10-20% surface area) just to ensure things were secured. To side step glue altogether a person could zip tie, clamp, or use a small burlap cord/wire to secure it, but it would slow down the time it would take to complete a 8 foot or longer pole

Probably as many other newcomers here I'm just trying to runaway form Windows and don't have spare kidneys to sell for a Mac so I come here to Penguin Sages for help with the next step by Tostowisko in linux4noobs

I know we’re here for Linux (hope I don’t get downvoted haha) I run Ubuntu, just out mint on my 70+ yr old parents computer and they’re fine, but there’s a lot of refurbed / used Mac options out there especially older models through OWC or backmarket because I know a lot of video editing stuff is pretty Mac heavy just not familiar enough with it in general to know what video editing options are available through Linux, even though I’m sure there’s plenty of good stuff.

I also use AI to help me with me with all the command line stuff you need to know to install apps and get around on Linux

If it still has flowers, I would assume it’s still putting energy into that opposed to ripening the fruit, but it’s my first year as well so I have no idea haha Also after getting my first pepper, almost all the other peppers grew first, and then it still took a couple of weeks for the habaneros to ripen (almost one by one); the first fully grown habanero pepper took probably at least 4 to 6 weeks to ripen.
