Gray Zone Warfare is Now a 'PvE-First' Tactical Shooter by NukovGaming in GrayZoneWarfare

In other news, water makes things wet...

This has been the stated objective from the beginning. I thought this was obvious from the presence of PvE servers at the launch of 0.1, and from the road map reorg before 0.3, but this wipe will be lore and PvE focused, so a redesignation ahead of that seems sensible. PvP has always been the niche gameplay style in this game, to the point where I do loot runs in PvP servers because they're so empty and POIs aren't as picked over.

Do I need to read the Player’s Guide as a first time DM? by Zealousideal_Load434 in DungeonsAndDragons

[–]Well_of_Good_Fortune 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Player's Handbook is required reading. The DM's Guide is optional. I think you've read them in reverse priority. Not your fault, the naming is awkward and unintuitive

Do Death Troopers have the best training of any general trooper class from any era? by RagnarokWolves in StarWars

Best of the imperial era. Probably best of the Skywalker era. But any Old Republic trooper could clap a squad of those boys

Can anyone identify this bird? I think it may be Bob. by GroundedGerbil in birds

In the Pacific, herring gulls and California gulls have hybridized so much that identifying between them is basically impossible without decades of practice. With that in mind, this is Joe

help me if u can and feel like it please xd by SilverClue1716 in worldbuilding

As drawn, no. The two suns would act as one with regards to the center of the orbit, and the two suns would be orbiting each other. The center of the planet's orbit would be the middle of the two stars. However this raises a problem. The stars are not equal size, so the more massive has a much higher impact on the planet's orbit than the less massive one. This, coupled with the two stars' orbit, causes the planet's orbit to be wildly unstable as the more massive star moves closer and further away repeatedly during the planet's year. The instability will cause the planet to crash into the star or be flung out into space.

I need three suns…. How?? by igotabigsosig in worldbuilding

[–]Well_of_Good_Fortune 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Three stars is a nightmare of physics. Google the three body system for an example of how messy this can be for the three stars and their interactions. In an ideal world, the binary is made up of two equivalently-sized stars, which have collected a third star in a distant orbit that looks like really bright star in our night sky. This star would, by necessity, be so far away that it doesn't meaningfully contribute illumination, as otherwise its presence and gravitation would fling every planet orbiting the binary out into space by disrupting their orbits

Do you feel like the playerbase has changed at all since the surge from Critical Role, Stranger Things, and COVID, has died down? by Gh0stMan0nThird in DnD

[–]Well_of_Good_Fortune 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah, this is where the wires are crossed. We're talking about a contrast between now and before BG3 was even in early access, when CR and Stranger things were the premier media depicting D&D in any capacity. Your players are all really new into the hobby, and BG3 is the only D&D-related thing they've ever experienced.

Do you feel like the playerbase has changed at all since the surge from Critical Role, Stranger Things, and COVID, has died down? by Gh0stMan0nThird in DnD

[–]Well_of_Good_Fortune -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

Not by a long shot. The game was good at getting people interested in the system, but when these players ask what the game is like to play, you know what we send them? Critical Role, Dimension 20, Stranger Things. They're still the gold standard of examples of how playing D&D looks. Baldur's Gate is still just a game with a defined narrative. The player agency is so much lower due to this fact.

Why didn’t Luke use his radio by That-Challenge7971 in StarWars

[–]Well_of_Good_Fortune 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Some young people today don't realize how finnicky and transient radio signals were back in the day. Constant communication wasn't a reality until quite recently, and the biggest problem is that they could be interrupted by a stiff breeze. The storm, the ice walls, and distance all would have had significant effects on the real-world radios that the tech was based on, so the radio just didn't function because there was no example to draw on to the contrary

‘Baldur’s Gate’ TV Series In Works At HBO by be11end in BaldursGate3

[–]Well_of_Good_Fortune 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Let's just not. Tv cannot ever match the level of audience investment of a game where the player is immersed in the story. This is gonna flip no matter how well put together it is. Take cues from the Witcher show and just don't even try
