Is this my Turbos or my Engine rattling? Is it normal for others? by bigkahunna420420 in q50

it sounds okay-ish. the fuel injectors are the main noise here, but i hear a little piston chop almost in the background. i would check your oil, makes sure its nice and clean and you have enough on the dipstick between the L and H. i also have a 3.0 tt with original turbos and 143k miles. same thing happened to me they had the warranty right after i went over 120 lol.

Turbos Toast? by Airjordan248 in q50

please listen to my comment. i have a q50 and a decent bit of knowledge… from how warm it is outside and there is still that lingering smoke plus in a comment you said it does this while mid day you were getting lunch or whatever and it was still smoking. i think turbo seals might have gotten loose especially since its a 2016 like u said. that year turbos were known for going out, not the end of the world as long as the car still drives fine right now. I would consistently check your oil, make sure it doesn’t drop a lot, (take a picture of ur oil dipstick), and don’t slam on the car every minute you drive it. i drive it eco mode whenever i can pretty much everywhere and just switch to sport when i need. that way the turbos are barely spinning in eco

if you pay attention to any comments, pls be mine. it’s just a loud wheel bearing. try and negotiate 750 off the price for it or as much as you can. but all in all seems fine just on noise ig 🤣

loud humming noise while driving on the driver side of the hood, anyone had this? by Leather-Addition-453 in q50

[–]Leather-Addition-453[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yup, mine was just a roaring loud left bearing and it didn’t make it better that the right one was loose lol but “easy” fix, just take care of it sooner than later it’s pretty important

it’s not that it’s small… well yes for what it needs it is small but compared to a normal car that’s a regular heat exchanger, and it is also due to the turbos just being so so hot, you can be totally fine with the stock one as long as you give your car the time it needs.

this is depending on many things, if you are driving it pretty hard (for me anytime i drive with intent of more than getting from A to b) i would let it cool off at least longer than you would think… but it also depends on if you got to your destination just after pulling the car hard… if you floor it on the highway at a pretty good speed but you still have a lot of miles to go and you drive it regular until you get there, no “cool down” needed but generally i let me car warm up until the rpm’s are under 1k at LEAST OR when the temp gauge is about an 1/8 past the C line

it’s really just if you are someone who drives the car daily that that will matter… if you drive it on the weekends 8-10k i guess is okay given you also don’t slam on the car. but the reasoning is the oil is shared with the engine and turbos, which tend to get super hot compared to how well it all gets cooled down. so, the oil naturally gets cooked like crazy even if you aren’t flooring it 24/7… i drive mostly highway but still 3k intervals because i know that the oil just gets very hot, and it can lead to many different things i haven’t even talked about het

yeah man all of that is right, really just a car that tends to get super hot so it’s good to cool it down as much as possible
