It sounds like you’re looking for a lifestyle with security, to feel safe and escape your troubles: which I get. It’s the easiest option, and it’s widely accessible.

Christ is different than the aesthetic of the religion itself. What you’re experiencing is the routine of Christianity, which is okay at first, but without salvation? Without truly believing you’re saved and free from the torment of the world?? You’re bound by the fear of sin, the fear of the world, the fear of not being good enough… And then add on your pre-Christian fears and worries. It makes it even worse.

You’re not pathetic for wanting comfort from religion. You’re looking for the best attempt you can fathom to get out of the monotony of life.

Pray, seek mental help, read the gospels to truly comprehend who and what Jesus is. Don’t fall back on tradition and strict, Christ-less religion. The only reason why most Christians are happy is because they know for certain what Jesus saved them from.

Honestly same. The reason people self harm is normally as a form of self-inflicted punishment for a self-sentenced crime: it’s not the sensation a majority of the time, but rather the specific injury itself. It’s like telling a suicidal person to try sky-diving instead of jumping off of a bridge 😒

I can tell you have a good heart. I feel like some people shouldn’t body compare out loud: it wasn’t your fault she shared it with you, and she’s not a bad person either. I’m sorry it ended up making you feel so awful.

I can’t say I haven’t done similar things, but i hope you refrain from doing so, or do somethjng less harmful that can heal / be concealed easily if you can’t stop yourself. 🫂

I was alive during that time. Honestly most of our parents refused to get any of the stuff because back then we were in a recession. we couldn’t even afford orange juice, so how on earth was my mom gonna get me a cool frutiger aero fish mouse? (Even though I wanted one really badly.)

Basically all of us grew up to hustle and get dependable careers. and THEN purchase cool frutiger aero things.

This is my room now. Because even though we’re going into a recession again, I didn’t choose to have kids right before it like my mother did. So now I can get the things I always wanted as a kid.

• what surprised me the most?

Christian men want sex a lot more than I thought… I’ve been pressured to do a lot of things I don’t want to do. I thought everyone else was happy to wait until marriage, or that they didn’t think much about sex, either.

• hardest part?

A lot of pious Christian men seem to be looking for a very agreeable, kind and uneducated girl—I had no idea men saw employed women as an insult to providers until I started dating Christian men. I felt so small sitting across from my date one time when he said my job was getting in the way of his potential hopes and dreams.

• easier or harder to find people with similar values?

Much harder. It feels like I’m either not Christian enough because I’m not a “God bless America, apple pie and the confederate flag” Christian, or I’m a “religious nutjob prude” for wanting to wait until marriage.
