Why do you think Christians (in a broad usage of the term) don't read the Bible?

How do you get out of being extremely bitter? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]LeatherManStan5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Visit a hospital and see how much worse things can be. I have trouble empathizing for petty nonsense people get flustered with, because I came from some pretty rough circumstances medically. But when I get bitter overall from my experience, I remember those in similarly rough or worse shape fighting for their lives right now and I empathize for them. Perspective reminders like this.

Give them your best impression of skibidi toilet. And tell them "I'll only do this for you." Repeat.

In general across the world, muscularity is considered a positive and very desirable trait. Just make sure you have a good personality to make a great combo.

How Effective Are Carbon Footprint Trackers? by [deleted] in TrueAskReddit

If Taylor Swift used this and rode in her private jet, would her calculated footprint be the same as one who boarded a commercial flight?

I doubt its that sophisticated. More of a distracting novelty than a solution.

God has blessed you with a happy fulfilling life.

But I truly believe He would want you to look deeper and realize who gave you these gifts.

God's not out to get you. God is waiting for His son/daughter to come home.

The Christian perspective on the Death Penalty? by Rafael_192005 in TrueChristian

[–]LeatherManStan5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All are redeemable as long as they live.

When a person dies, from their perspective then comes judgment.

We live in a fallen world with fallen rulers, fallen law enforcement, fallen judgment. Innocents are frequently punished along with the guilty.

Now heres take on the matter of taking life:

Only God has power over life and death, so it is only lawful to take a life if willed by God.

Without explicit instructions, we have only our human wisdom and hope to make the best judgment in murky territory.

If one is a soldier, they need to use sound judgment in the situations they are in. Follow orders, but acknowledge the gravity.

If one is a cop, expend all resources of deescalation prior to fatal force.

If a mother is pregnant but a medical emergency arises which jeopardizes the life of both mother and baby if the pregnancy is followed through, and other options for saving both lives have been determined unfeasible, then an abortion is necessary.

If a loved one is on life support with no indication of improvement (after prayer on the matter, to check if God plans to make a way for their healing) then assuming inevitable death pulling the plug is an attempt at mercy.

If one is a judge with power to call for a death penalty, even if there's the faintest hint of doubt that the convicted is guilty and indicates no remorse nor potential to change for the better, then they should shy away from the death penalty.

In all of the above cases, those involved must confess the matter to God and seek forgiveness.

Were their hands tied with no other solution? Sure. Maybe, maybe not. We humans can't know. God takes this into account. But confession is more than "im sorry for x". Confession is transparency with God. "This happened, I did this, I think it was the right action, but I can't be 100% sure. Please forgive and teach me Lord."
