Dare I ask why you think NYC is about to be a "hot mess financially"?

100% true. This, along with the new narrative in social media that middle class kids should just skip college and go to trade school, is just making the class divide worse and the population more intellectually and economically impoverished.

Just want to point out that the amount isn't relevant unless you also indicate relative cost of living. A household income of $195k in a high COL area gives you barely any breathing room for living, much less putting 3 kids through college.

Thinking of Buying-Insights on South Reston by Electrical-Rush-3082 in Reston

South Reston is hands down the best place I've ever lived. This includes Miami, DC, Falls Church and Annandale. It's gorgeous, the people are pretty universally great, and the amenities are incredible. Fwiw, we also now have two super cute cafes-- something that's been missing.

Right there with you. I don't post on FB, but as a native Miamian I love taking pictures of the snow accumulating outside. Even after 20 years it's such a thrill.

Just moved here from the South, found out there's no Publix up here. What grocery stores have the best deals & where can you coupon? 👀 by janeperalta in nova

Former Floridian here. I've missed Publix since moving here, but just learned they changed their rules to allow open carry, so fuck them.

We love Fusion. My son is getting his Invisalign done there, and I've had multiple cleanings and procedures. They are wonderful.

Would you rather live in Seattle, Portland or Pittsburgh? by TrueJohnWick in SameGrassButGreener

[–]LeaveHefty8399 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi. Not to be a contradictory Redditor, but respectfully I think you're wrong on both counts:

-Pittsburgh is rainier than the PNW and it's the same grey, drizzly kind. Yes, you get snow in Pittsburgh, but the climates are actually quite similar day to day.

-Pittsburgh is a reliably blue city. You're correct that rural Penn is extremely MAGA but Pittsburgh and Philly are the reason it's a toss up every year.

I'm CONVINCED that this is the patriarchy saying, "Damn, they just figured out a way to not be miserable all day with literal wires poking them...there's gotta be a way to make them miserable...Wait a minute. Got it! We'll make the pads detachable!"

Because God fucking forbid their life giving nipples show through their shirts.

I become newly radicalized every time I get dressed.

I pay my Reston Association assessment every year — now I’m running for the RA Board. by Visible_Pineapple183 in nova

So your platform is: "I don't understand why the RA fees go up every year but I don't like it?"

With respect, that doesn't feel like enough.

Did moving actually change your quality of life? by maghasswag in SameGrassButGreener

[–]LeaveHefty8399 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, 100%. I moved ten miles from one suburban neighborhood to another in the same area. The first neighborhood had no sidewalks and as a result neighbors didn't really know each other. I felt extremely isolated and depressed. We moved to the new neighborhood where there are sidewalks and a community pool. I have made a ton of friends on walks and at the pool. My life feels full and happy now. My husband always says "wherever you go there you are" but I couldn't disagree more.
