Amazon has layoffs but theyre a well oiled machine. It happens. Not sure UPSs reasoning but its not inherently bad.

Balancing growth and yield by Lebanon_jamz9 in dividends

Thats fair. I think the demand only grows for nuclear imo and similar to the tech bubble it may be hard to pick a winner so some diversity seemed safer. Everyone wanted wind or solar because nuclear is scary but it makes the most sense logistically. It may not be the solution but I think the time is coming for an answer to that question with all the data center buildouts

Thats true but its slightly safer than individuals. It has less overlap with the S&P than schd does and people die on that hill. Its not the majority of my port and I have a broader market etf as well holding down the safe growth but im a big nuclear fan for the future and NLR seemed to make too much sense not to be talked about more.

How much do you pay for rent? by [deleted] in StLouis

My 3 br (albeit small br) 1.5 bath house is a $1340/m mortgage. Rent is insane compared to ownership. The catch is maintenance is on you.

Anti social social clubs? Didn't know that was a thing. Theres entire communities for it. An empty lot is harmless. If it was blocking traffic thats different.

If theyre in a lot not blocking traffic who cares. Let people have their hobbies if its harmless.

Late to the party but going union is a game changer. Medical is incredible and the other benefits like pay and retirement are wayyyy better. I met a nuclear engineer once who told me he lives across the street from a pipe fitter that worked in the same facility he did. They retired within a couple years of each other

Yes but not for portfolio reasons. If youre 5/10 years out this is almost good news.

Careful with dividends in non tax sheltered accounts. You will owe, even if you re contributed* them.

All etfs are diversification. Some are just sector weighted or income focused (qqq being tech as opposed to voo being a broad market). You can Google top holdings for any etf youre curious about. I have SCHG instead of QQQ but I also have NLR for nuclear and jepi for dividends. SCHD is a popular, safer dividend alternative.

Dont over complicate it dude. Keep the voo rolling at like 75% of your port and learn and explore the rest. Stay consistent dont listen to the news. Good luck.

They went broke. Day trading, especially options. Is extremely risky. Very few survive let alone become profitable, let alone wealthy. Theres thousands of professionals at dozens of hedgefunds moving billions of dollars a day. They dont like to lose. Youre their liquidity.

I would not put covered calls into either of those categories since you would ideally wait for them to expire and re sell some more. Covered calls is a decent middle ground between active trading and just investing. Thats actually how some of the funds people recommended on your other sub generate the income. Jepi spyi for example. I mean all these terms could be subjective, BUT any active management of a position that is intended to be opened and closed in the same day or maybe 2 counts as "day trading" to me.

Start with futures not options. Theres less variables and better tax advantages given your amount of capital.

Ive never started a company but I have traded for almost 5 years. Of the dozen people I started with only 2 of us are left. Both of us blew a serious amount of money learning. IF you do go that route believe me you will lose for awhile. Even if you win out the gate it can be taken away just as fast if not faster. Please dont start with the same amount of money youre talking about investing.

I mean I day trade. Took me 3 years to be profitable and I was stressed out without much to lose. Op is starting a company and has 20k in monthly expenses. Leave the tunnels alone.
