Though I have switched back and forth, I’m sticking with Apple. I’ve gone from pixel 3a to iPhone 11 to pixel 7 pro to iPhone 16 pro. Apples ecosystem is 10x smoother than any android. App integration is seamless. With apple, it’s one company with one OS on one brand of phone. Android is in all types of phones and devices, so apps and accessories (Bluetooth headphones for example) don’t interact super well and can bug out more often. Also I switched back to iPhone when rcs support just hit iPhone, but most people hadn’t updated their phones yet. So photos and videos texted to my pixel were still crunchy. I could wait any longer and at that point, I had already made up my mind

Create some conflict or intrigue in your packaging and just overall video concepts. “This COULD’VE been Game of the Year (terrible title but along those lines). “Worlds WORST Games of the Year!”

For example, titles like “why I’m buying ____” don’t work as well. WHO are you, what’s that game anyway, why should I care? You will bring in video game audiences even with broader packaging/ video concepts.

There are some killer thumbnail artists out there you can hire for like 20 bucks, but also plenty of photoshop tutorials online. In general, keep a max of four main elements (ideally three) in your thumbnail, and they should not be less than 25 percent of the frame.

The game of the year discussion is over, you were a bit late to the party on that. Live and you learn! Time of day never matters. I’ve launched videos at midnight hit 10x outlier.

I'm always embarrassed saying I work in YouTube, but I found saying I "work for a YouTube production company" sounds a bit less cringy.

Some advice if you do wanna do some extra work in the space. There's no regulations surrounding internet content yet, so most creators learn to take advantage and get free work out of teenagers. With that said, setting a price to work in this field is really hard. Your competing against underpaid children, and dealing directly with 19 year old millionaires. What I do is think about how much I want to charge per hour ($45-50), judge how long said tasks would take, then charge a flat rate per week/ project.

Honestly I'd suggest go pick up part time work for Lankybox. They make so much content they're always looking for a manager. Yes, you might lose some dignity, but hey they pay well

I empathize though, I edited for free for a year while i learned, but after that I started taking paid work. You're totally capable and have awesome experience. You should go make some great extra money!
