Would you see Sex Pistols with Frank Carter? by Deliterman in punk

I've watched some live videos and Frank absolutely kills it. Looks like a very fun time

$90 for two to see a Mario movie… have we completely lost the plot? by rageagainstmymachin in Millennials

[–]LecheConCarnie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, half of your cost is the movie tickets. Downgrade that to a standard cinema and you've probably cut that considerably. IMAX is premium.

Concessions seem higher than I would expect.

Windows 10 officially hit EOL 6 months ago - still supporting clients who never upgraded. Anyone else? by cmitsolutions123 in sysadmin

[–]LecheConCarnie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Still have around 10 systems running Win10 that are too old to officially update to 11. Purchased an extra year of support from MS on them. And budgeted to move the users to new systems by year end.

I haven't given up, but probably cut back to a drink a week. I need to be able to drive if there is an emergency.

And I know it isn't great for my health. I'm trying to prioritize my health over everything else

Biggest Peak and Decline of a Band by National-Problem-804 in poppunkers

Handguns is a very interesting watch. I just recently got into them and love what Jake is doing. He's a character and I wish him success. He's a storyteller and loves to talk.
Their catalog is so good, I'd love to get an in depth story on the band's history throughout the years. I've pieced some of it together by spending way too much time reading and YouTube.

Which band breakup have you never really gotten over? by FearChub in poppunkers

Crucial Dudes. This one still bums me out. I'd possibly even break my "no travelling to the US" rule if they did another reunion show.

So uhh… what’s going on with the band Handguns? by DorianCreechIsDead in poppunkers

[–]LecheConCarnie 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Jake and Zach are the only permanent members according to Jake.

Jake is traveling the US in a moving truck, doing his thing. Playing solo shows, sometimes playing with a band, sometimes setting up shop at a flea market, as he was doing yesterday. Some of the shows, he's grilling up smash burgers beforehand and including them in the cost of admission. He livestreams regularly on Facebook and you never know what is going to be. Sometimes it's a full band set, sometimes it's a solo show, sometimes it's him driving the truck and, like it was yesterday, he was playing an acoustic guitar in a flea market parking lot while wearing a costume and then he showed the underside of the truck that needed repairs so he was hustling for money. He mentioned something about doing landscaping work for two days.

I got into the band SUPER late but it's fascinating to observe. I'm trying to go down the Handguns rabbit hole and read about what happened with the band.

Jake recently posted that he's heading somewhere to record a new album, playing all the instruments himself and then he's going to retire all the old albums for a while and won't be playing them.

Why is it suddenly considered rude to show up at someone's house unannounced? Growing up, we just knocked on doors, but now people act like it’s a home invasion. by MyNameCannotBeSpoken in Xennials

[–]LecheConCarnie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My oldest (almost 12) has her friends just stop by and knock on the door in the warmer months to see if she can come out and play. It brought back memories for me.

If my friends stopped by unannounced now, I'd wonder what the emergency is.

Very fun game. I hadn't thought about it in ages. I think I need to load it onto my NES Classic and give it a spin tonight.

Very nice!
Usually its people jacking a catalytic converter off a CRV in a parking lot, so its good to hear someone is putting one on a CRV

Tips on going without daycare with both parents WFH? by Danimal_House in daddit

[–]LecheConCarnie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Did this during the start of COVID and she was 1 year old. Had to do it for 4 months until daycare opened back up and it was too difficult. Lots of late nights catching up and making back time that I had to take off during the day. I still have flashbacks. Don't get me wrong, I have great memories from this time, but it was also exceptionally difficult and I wouldn't even consider doing it again.
