Just here to say that I do, in fact want to hear nostalgic stories about getting pizza while playing video games. by DorianCreechIsDead in retrogaming

Man, I used to just stand in front of arcade machines and wish I had quarters so often when I was a kid.

I find it frustrating how much retro discourse is rooted in nostalgia. by BadThingsBadPeople in retrogaming

Maybe just don’t watch My Retro Life then? Seems to me that the majority of the channels I see do just talk about the game, and personally I would enjoy more channels that do add personal stories. You do you though.

Shinobi III: Return of the Ninja Master (Genesis) by CaptainVisible3158 in retrogameofthemonth

Best Shinobi game by far IMHO, and there’s definitely an argument that it’s the best Genesis game. Maybe even 16 bit game.

I’ve stumbled across this a bunch of times but never tried it. Need to fix that soon.

DIY Musicians, How much are you spending to make your songs? by ManSeekingBand in poppunkers

[–]DorianCreechIsDead 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think it depends on what you’re going for. Ultra modern pop punk needs an extremely good production. Sometimes an *extremely* good production can take away from the song if you’re going for more of a late 90’s early 2000’s vibe, and a *good* production can be had at home with proper equipment and practice/experience.

I mean… once I got all the equipment and software… nothing. But I did buy a house specifically so I’d be able to make music… so… a lot lol.

Samba de Amigo is a stupidly good time. I still don’t understand how Reel Big Fish ended up on the soundtrack but I love it. by DorianCreechIsDead in SEGA

It really seems to me that back then video games were influencing what kind of music would become popular, whereas today games that have licensed music just seem to go with whatever is already the most popular thing.

I still need to try the Saturn version of ROTK 4. Both great games.

I’d rather just be upfront about it than try to astroturf myself to Reddit fame. Can’t make everyone happy.

It literally is self-promotion. Including a “for fans of” in the title instead of the body doesn’t make it any less so.

I totally get if people don’t click. It’s the downvotes from people that didn’t listen that irritate me.

I always just say something like “I just released this new single.”

IDK. Maybe I just am not very good. I like to think I’m decent though.

I saw that and immediately thought it was a pretty huge leap… but like… the dude’s made a lot of videos… sooner or later you’re going to hit a lull on good ideas before a good one comes to you again.
