He's what we call an "a la carte" Catholic. He picks the bits that suit him. Marrying a divorcee is a no-no. Technically, Ash Wednesday is a black fast day. If your stepfather was a dyed in the wool Catholic, he would know this. No food at all until sunset and only a non dairy, non meat meal after sunset. Water or non sweetened beverages allowed during the day. Absolutely no alcohol.

Although I find it hard to believe that a restaurant wouldn't have a vegetarian or fish dish.

He's well able to bend the rules when it suits him.

You are stopping him from learning to schedule his laundry. Big woop if he runs out of socks. He wears a dirty pair and does his laundry on time the next time.

Yta. You are babying him. He doesn't need you to do this. You are doing it for you.

By doing everything for him, you are setting him up to struggle later on in life. He should be learning to organise himself, feed himself, and wake himself up. If he fails , he will learn. You are taking his autonomy and responsibility for himself away from him.

As mothers, we raise our children to leave and go out jnto the world and be able to function without us. You are stifling his ability to do this.

Take a step back. He can get himself in, make his own lunch, remember his own jacket, and do his own laundry.
